in that it appeared to most that it was a new interview, not one from signing day that the Advocate held back in order to generate more interest later on.The best news is that Miles has sat down with and spoken about his comments. Guilbeau on RP
Like others have stated I hope Miles continues the no Freshman talk to the media policy. This could be very distracting and cause division for the team. If the recievers drop a couple of passes are the reads are confused between qb and receiver does he rip them. It appears he is in the I can do no wrong corner. Kid needs guidance I guess we will see how the talk with Miles went.
At times, i wish this kid would have went to Texas. He is going to be a distraction in the locker room. We already have 2 solid qb's and dont need the mental setbacks from a punk. But thats ok, just as Jamarcus has proven, it does not matter what you think you are coming out of high school, you have to work to be the man in college, period. He has all that ability in high school, but now he has to prove it. I cant wait for the first defensive lineman to pancake his A$$ and shut his mouth up. I hardly believe all the WR's would say anything to that extent, but you never know. Flynn never even had his shot. Is this what the RP sweepstakes was all about? A hotheaded punk who thinks he is already Donovan McNabb? He needs a reality check. Texas is full of overrated-out-of-high-school, big mouth losers who pan out to be nothing. Thats the perfect home for him the way I look at it right now, I dont care how impressive his recruiting film was. Keep up the good work Flynn and Jamarcus!
I mean if RP comes in and beats out Jamarcus and Flynn and EARNS the job, i'll support him and we'll roll with it. But for him to mouth off before even showing anything, please, we dont need Ryan Leaf Jr. on our campus....
I think he needs to talk more. The more he talks the more Flynn and Russell work at getting the top spot. This is good for our QB's. We havent had QB's fighting for a spot in a long time at LSU. Russell and Randell were not fighting were not fighting for a spot last year. I dont know what they were doing. I guess sparring(sorry if misspelled). Good Luck Flynn, its time to step up and show your smarts.
i disagree. i think his committment alone was plenty good enough motivation for our QBs. do you think phillip rivers had to go shooting his mouth off about how he was going to unseat drew brees in order for brees to come around? as far as i know, rivers did nothing of the sort. now look how successful brees has become. all in all, i think that comments like his are bad for team chemistry. not only did he talk about the QBs, but he also spoke on behalf of the WRs. hopefully, everyone can recognize this as a youthful indiscretion and sweep it under the rug in due time. but when someone says something, despite the fact that others may 'get over' it, you can never, ever take it away. it's like the story about the boy who has to hammer a nail into the fence everytime he says something hurtful. he is allowed to remove the nails when he says something nice. only the hole forever remains in the fence.
I don't dislike the comments he made. This guy turned out one of the best high school careers ever in the history of the world. Why shouldn’t he talk a little smack? I think it's good for the team. You think Reggie Bush don't talk smack to his teammates? RP is going to demand that these guys step up and match his play on their side of the ball. I can’t understand how some of you people are saying I wish he had gone to Texas. That is BS. Just b/c RP told the truth about the LSU QB situation you want to pack his butt up and send him to Miami. If you are a real LSU football fan, you should be stoked that you can watch this guy perform on Saturdays. I think his smack talk is going to push Russ and Flynn to play better (like someone else said). If they don’t play better then RP will be the man. I want to see how many of you that are talking smack about a LSU player change your minds after he throws for 4 td’s and runs in 1, when he wins the starting job. I bet some of you want him to fall on his face so you can feel good about your selves’ just b/c this guy doesn’t come from the old school. More power to RP, he didn’t get where he is today by not acting like he is.
I think his comments stem from a severe lack of maturity, and a lack of respect for college level of play and particularly the SEC. Anyone attempting to defend his comments just displays the same lack of maturity that RP possesses. I seriously doubt anyone over the age of 25 would defend what he's saying. I know no one over the age of 25 with the mental capacity to match their age would defend his remarks. Anyone with any amount of adult common sense can see that these comments are good for absolutely nothing. Russell and Flynn don't need a high school kid telling them they suck to get motivated. And to use that as defense for RP's remarks is ridiculous. I do really look forward to seeing this kid take the field one day, and I hope he's one of the best college QB's to ever play the game. But no matter how well he plays, and no matter if he takes LSU to a NC game every year, it doesn't and won't change the fact that right now the kid needs to shut his trap (which I think he will once he matures a little, or once a 300 pound SEC D lineman flattens him out once or twice). That'll make you grow up quick fast and in a hurry.
I really can't come to terms with exactly how I feel about RP's comments. On the one hand, I'm like everyone else, I cringe when I read some of his "Quotes". But then again, sometimes the truth hurts. :bncry: On the other hand, I realize that he has seen multiple LSU practices, and according to him and his coach, he Will be the better man. :yelwink2: He reminds me of that Charlie Daniels song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" "Boys sit down in that chair right there and let me show ya how it's done". :thumb: One thing is for sure "It Ain't Gonna Be Boring" and damn, if he is 1/2 as good as advertised, it's certainly going to be a sight to see. Go Brady and Go Smoke, but I can hardly wait for Les's turn. :geauxtige
Is he going to lead LSU to the same amount of championships that he won in high school? If he's so damn great, why doesn't his high school record match what Shaq's high school record was?
