No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 4 LSU: Predictably, the Buckeyes rolled by Wake Forest in the first round. However, the LSU-USC game was hotly contested, and after leading comfortably for most of the afternoon, the Tigers held off a furious Trojans rally to advance.

This game features two of the nation's most physically gifted quarterbacks -- Ohio State's Troy Smith and LSU's JaMarcus Russell. Unlike Russell, though, Smith possesses an unquestionable big-game savvy. The 2006 Heisman Trophy winner has already performed admirably in the Buckeyes two big wins over Texas and Michigan.
But Tigers D presents quite a challenge for Smith & Co. While the 'Horns and Wolverines were overmatched by Ohio State's aerial prowess, LSU should be up to the task. The Tigers rank third in the nation pass defense (145.50) and pass efficiency defense (92.80). Smith does a terrific job of getting rid of the ball in the nick of time, so LSU DE Tyson Jackson and his sack-heavy cohorts need quick penetration. Against a deep group of multi-talented wide receivers, All-America free safety LaRon Landry will play the key role for the Tigers.

Russell must avoid the mental breakdowns he has become famous for. The Ohio State defense is as opportunistic as they come, feeding off of opponent miscues. The Tigers employ a running back by committee. Freshman Keiland Williams has emerged as the Tigers' best running option in recent weeks, but he has yet to have a true breakout performance.
Both teams rank in the top four in scoring defense, so conventional wisdom would say take the under. Then again, that's what we thought about Ohio State-Michigan ...
