Actually, he has to do something. After last Saturday's comedy of errors that made national headlines and made LSU the laughing stock of the nation, he really has to do something drastic. It's obvious that if he keeps doing what he has been doing for the past couple of season, that he is going to lose 4 or 5 games by the end of the season and lose his job. Hence, this may be a last ditch effort to save his job. However, after that fiasco Saturday on national TV it still may not be enough to save his job.

 

So you think this has something to do with Miles's job security?

As bad as LSU struggled against the worse Tennessee team in 22 years, do you really think he can win games against Florida, Auburn, Alabama, and Arkansas the way the offense is playing? Not to mention that it looks like Ole Miss is improving.

Meanwhile, LSU has 11 & 1 or 10 & 2 talent on the team.

I think he did a reassessment and realizes his job is in peril. Personally, after last season, if I were in his shoes, I never would have bet a $4 million job on Gary Crowton like he did.

 

His buyout is $3.75MM per year remaining on his contract. His contract runs through 2012, so if terminated at the end of the year, he would be owed $7.5MM.

He was getting his money either way. What he has done is guaranteed himself in NOT ever getting a contract like that one again from any school.
