AtlTiger, I went to Central Lafourche....graduated in '94. I lived near North American for 3 years. I bet Atlanta is a big difference from the bayou, heh? I go to Atlanta at least once a month for work.
ChuckE there are still a few pontoon bridges left but they are replacing them with lift bridges. They have also built a four lane on the west side of the bayou all the way to Larose from Golden Meadow. Plans are for it to go all the way to Highway 90, which they are going to turn into and interstate road. Things are changing but the people are still the same. I was on the bayou for the Aurburn game and went to the French Food Festival where they set up a sports bar to watch the game, under the big tent. It was a blast. As for the Safari it burnt down one friday night in minutes. With all those High School kids in there they were lucky to get everyone out but one person. The Stagecoach was shutdown and last I seen was an empty building with weeds around it. I didn't know Pam Duet personally but knew who she was. The High Scool does not look the same they have added buildings on the front lawn. But Tarpon Stadium where you played is still there. I don't know if you have been there since your High School days but the bayou has changed alot since then. LOL they even have a Days Inn now. Dothantiger I use to work at North American in the late 70's before it became North American. As for living in Atlanta I love it. The bayou is great but I don't miss the summer humidity. We went to the Sportline Bar here for the championship. That is where the Alumni Association meets for the televised games. Also what is good about living here is we are within a 6 hour ride of most of the other SEC Schools. And being with Tiger fans on the road is loads of fun.
AtlTiger...I know what you mean. Even though Dothan is pretty much a "country type" town, it's a metropolis compared to the bayou. The one thing I do not miss about it is being stuck at those damn bridges. Especially hwy 1 Intercoastal bridge. I love to go back home, but I just don't see me living on the bayou again. If my wife and I move back to La., it'll probably be closer to Baton Rouge or the northshore.
