is playing right now for the Redskins. He was in the huddle in the 1st series and now just caught a pass. Go Robert!

I just saw it too. The Safety that popped Royal almost broke his own neck. Poor technique.

I always felt Robert never quite lived up to his potential at LSU. Hopefully he'll do better in the NFL.

That one catch against Tennessee in OT was awesome though. LSU has never seemed to utilize it's tightends that well. Royal was a preseason All American and has made an NFL team but LSU couldn't get more than 20-30 catches out of him. Tight ends sitting right in the middle of the field are easy completions and LSU has never seemed to get the most out of tight ends.

Yeah, we need to start utilizing the TE's, more--perhaps develope another "David LaFleur" type of TE...

The only reason that Royal never lived up to his potential at LSU is because they hardly ever through him the ball. If they had utilized his skills in the same way that Miami uses Kellen Winslow Jr. Royal would have been a huge impact player. Same thing for the fullback Tommy Banks. Banks only carried the ball once or twice a game but it seemed like every time he got the rock he gained 7 or 8 yards.

Actually.......I remember Royal dropping an awfully lot of catchable balls while at LSU.....maybe that's why he didn't get the ball so much, but hey.... it might be just me

I agree. I'd like to see our TE used more too. There were quite a few catchable balls that Robert dropped.

I agree, we don't utilize our TE enough. I remember we had 3 highly touted TE at one point and we never really threw anyone of them. We had Joe Domigeaux, Eric Edwards, and Robert Royal, and none of them reached their potential.

Edwards is still here. He dropped a pass Saturday that would have probably been a touchdown but I have always felt like Edwards had trememdous potential that was way underutilized.

Something that jumped out at me with Royal. How much bigger he has gotten.......put on some bulk.....he needed to.
