has anyone heard anything about how Robert Lane has performed this spring in Miss. ? I'm just curious to see if we really missed out or if we lucked out.

He looks like a typical talented true freshman- makes a great play here, a rookie mistake there. His future looks bright but he definitely won't just be handed the job after Eli leaves- he's entering as the #4 QB and he'll be missing spring ball I presume.

The guys in front of Lane (Spurlock and Flatt) don't have as much natural talent as Lane, but they are very hard workers and are (obviously) way ahead of Lane in knowing our system. If Lane really applies himself, including getting some reps in the spring some how, then he can win the starting job and be a very good SEC QB. But if he just tries to treat football like a part time hobby he'll likely never see the field. It's all up to him and how bad he wants it, IMO.

    .

Sounds like it. It will be very tough for him to play baseball and football. It is already known he has a difficult time making a comment. Looks like he will need to make one sooner or later.

    Wish him well.
