That stud looked liked the real deal on his limited work....do we take much from how he looked even though it was against second-team MSU? Does he deserve a look as the starter or at least getting him 12-15 carries when the game matters? I think so. Just watching on TV, he looked much quicker and made cuts unlike JH KW and CS.
There are a few concerns on the LSU team like every team has but Running backs is not one of them. I put our running backs up against anybody in the country and that means you USC. We have all different kind of runners too. If we wanted too we could go back to the Nebraska days of the triple wing and they wouldnt know who had the ball.
Well, just like my opinion of RP's performance, even if it were against a "tired defense", both made the right reads, Murphy made good cuts and ran hard and in RP's case, he had good touch on his passes. The best thing about our offense, is that our strength is when a defense is tired, we can bring in a super-fresh running back (be it Scott or KW for bowling over defenders, or Murphy to juke-n-jive and speed his way to positive yardage). And down the road, with each game in the early part of the year that RP gets a decent amount of playing time in the 2nd half of games or an occassional play early in games, it only benefits us if Flynn were to have to leave a game due to injury. I think Murphy will get a good, healthy portion of playing time this season no matter what capacity he's acutally in, and he'll be productive.
i dont put much stock in rm's performance. about what id expect from what id heard about him and against a demoralized D. still, he could prove to be the best of the bunch. certainly lsu has a good (capable:lol: ) group of backs, like most top programs, but id trade it in for one stud rb and serviceable backups. granted its probably still too early to say that any of these 3 arent stud rbs, but usually you know right away.
I agree with you. You usually know right away and to my eyes he looked like he deserves a look as that stud rb.
