I can't believe nobody has posted about this kook.

Obama will not recover from this .there is no way you can explain going to this man's church for 20 years ,listening to this crap, and not leaving this church.

Obama 's ratings already down 5 points in three days.

Wonder if this came out, courtesy of the Clinton campaign?

I'm surprised it hasn't been made a bigger deal by now, but if Obama wins the democratic nomination I expect this to be his downfall against McCain.

Once again, the Democrats have been set up perfectly to take the white house but are unable to find a decent candidate and America is left with a mediocre Republican.

I don't see how he recovers. He may not lose the demo nomination, but the general election? I just can't see it.

And his explanation was ludicrus. You're in a church 20 years, the pastor marries you, baptizes your kids, you ask him to step back because his sermons can be "a little strong" yet you never heard him make racially divisive statements?

    C'mon.

could be, but there's a long way to go, eight months is a lifetime in politics, anything can happen.

I agree CParso.A year ago I thought there was no way the democrats could screw up and lose this election .They havent been set up this well since Ford pardoned Nixon and Carter won in 1976.

I think it came out at the right time. Because its a long time till the next primary. However, the pastors words are wrong, he is being just as racist as you would accuse anyone else of, simple as that.
My thought is that it will go away, not completely, but enough for him to hold on to the nomination. If Clinton does make up the ground and win the nomination, republicans will love that. They look to give her a sound bloody beating in the general election. Thats why so many republicans are voting for her now.

Also, this is almost the same thing McCain has going on with pastor Hagee endorsing him. Hagee has been on record with his hate for catholics and other groups, but it hasnt gotten as much press. The difference in the two is that McCain didnt attend his church for 20 years.

My true thought is that you cant control what someone else says. Obama himself doesnt think this way imo and his pastor should be ashamed of himself for mixing this issue with the churchs business.Yes, I am taking up for Obama because I am a strong supporter of his. I am glad he denounced the comments by his pastor and the pastor is now off the campaign. Same thing with Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro. I dont really see a difference in the comments and situations.

When you go into a sermon you are supposed to remove yourself and let God speak through you. Its a distraction to the democratic race and if it continues democrats like myself will lose the general no matter who is there. We know the republicans dont want to run against Obama. I do think Obama has handle this situation well by being open and transparent about it.But this could turn out to be a double standard. If it is it will only make the pastors comments somewhat valid.

The media will not let this go away. They make their bones by bringing down the big guys. He had better do serious damage control right now because this will dog him until election eve.

Completely disagree with you. If thats the case we should hold Clinton and McCain accountable for the samething. Guilt by association. Everyone you associate with you dont fully agree with them on every issue, no matter how much of a friend they are to you. Comments like this will further intiate the guilt by association idea. I love my dad, but I dont agree with everything he has done and said, alot of what he has done or said, probably hurt me. But he still is my inspiration and a great role model for me. You learn from mistakes, doesnt mean you have to repeat them or agree with them from someone who makes the mistakes. However, I am not the least bit suprised by your rebutal.
Oh you dont have to be a fool or a liar to take someone at the word and face value. Its called given someone a chance. Im glad your not judging the world or the people in it for that matter.
