According to this article, its not a done deal just yet: SEC votes to accept Texas A&M as member | NOLA.com
I can't imagine that Baylor is going to be able to stop all of this. Hell they can probably only slow it down for a few hours or days.
That win against TCU really went to their heads. Now that they think they have a legitimate shot to win the Big 12-2, they want the conference to stand pat.
IMO - I don’t see how any other conference regardless of additions can put together schedules equally as difficult as that of what an SEC team has to face. This whole thing stinks and I don’t want A&M or any other wanna be coming into our conference. Add 4 more powerhouses to the SEC and the SEC Championship Game might as well be the National Championship Game This completely takes away the greatness of being the SEC! After we have achieved the title of the most prominent conference in the country, we just open our doors and invite these Big 12 rejects in? THIS SUCKS!
A&M is a great addition for the SEC, I hope Florida State is the other addition that way the west can not be split up.
Baylor is afraid of getting left out and not having the opportunity to play Texas and aTm (with those big paydays). They want in one of the big conferences and this may be their only option – or at least the strongest hand they have to play. I don’t think the win over TCU had anything to do with it. ldskule:
So how do the divisions look next year? I'm assuming the East will pick up another unwanted team and it'll be 7 on each side?
So I guess the SEC is all of a sudden the best conference in the nation huh Aggies? I'm not happy about this at all. I know it seemed inevitable but it's still disappointing
We'll never get the schedules perfectly equal with regards to degree of difficulty. However, we can get it close enough that most people shouldn't have a problem (with regard to public approval) of allowing teams within these superconferences to have earned a right to play for a title within a playoff system. And also keep in mind the SEC isn't gauranteed to always be the toughest conference. We're in our golden years of the conference but it doesn't mean it will stay this way. We fought tooth and nail for decades to be in this position and have this national approval. But as with most things in life, they eventually change. So taking an inclusive stance while we're on top of the mountain could bite us one day when we're not on top. Also, the expansion of the SEC is a must. Whether we like it or not market share dictates contracts with ESPN, CBS and affiliated media outlets. If the SEC stays at 12 teams we will lose (in a tremendous way) market share to the potentially PAC-16.
