Back in October. I was visiting a close friend in Dallas to watch the Oklahoma-Texas game on tv. OU blew them out and on that very Saturday LSU lost to Florida. I remember thinking OU is going to kill everybody and that maybe next year LSU would be better. How great did this year turn out! I would have never predicted this final outcome after that Saturday. This is the greatest college football season in history. There were record crowds everywhere. The Ohio State-Michigan game had a record crowd this year. LSU comes back and wins the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! It doesn't get any better than this.
I remember after the loss to Florida and I was walking back to my car, I was thinking about what would have to happen for LSU to go to the Sugar Bowl. I was thinking that we still had a shot at winning this. The first thing I thought about was the Ole Miss loss in 2001. After the loss, LSU went out on a rampage and won their last 6 games. I knew LSU could run the table after we lost to LSU. Everyone says, "I woulda never thought that LSU would be going to the Sugar Bowl. All I did every day was pray and believe in the Coach Saban and the Tigers. I knew it would happen. I told everyone I knew that LSU was going to the Sugar Bowl. Hardly anyone believed me. Well, they believe me now.
I think the loss to Florida will help the teams focus this year as well. They will still remember how that one loss almost cost them a shot at the title.
