Everyone take a deep breath, we are getting ahead of ourselves. Remember, the HC selected has to fit into a defined set of criteria that Skip has put together, probably including a 5 year vision, ability to fit into the athletic department, and the drive and determination to succeed. Skip has never, and will not, react on his emotions. He plays the percentages. Stop over-analyzing situations in which we on the outside have no information on. We are not going to lure a Stoops, Carroll, etc. What would they have to gain by leaving their schools to inherit a similar program? If they don't succeed, then they will be seen as failures. IF they win, they will be seen as riding the coat tails of Saban. We really want someone that has had success in similar style athletic departments, knows how to win, expects to win, has the attitude of winning (doesn't mean that he has won 11 games every year - Saban didn't), and the vision of LSU. Saban knew his vision for LSU football, Bertman knew his vision for LSU baseball. The candidates that have been publically mentioned are only one fraction of the contacts. These have just been leaked. Let the dust settle, listen to the new coach and see who he surrounds himself with, then re-evaluate after the year. Who ever is hired will bring in a new sense of excitement, the players interviewed will sing their praises, and the media will buy into them. Recruits will come, don't stress out on the one's we are losing, we may have lost them anyway. We will have a great recruiting class, a successful season, and good road ahead. We are in excellent hands with Skip.:lsug: :tigbas:
"Riding the coat tails of Saban". That is an interesting take. May be scaring off a lot of good people.
Along with Skips criteria it has to be someone that actually wants the job. Finding coaches that fit a certain criteria can be easy, getting them to come and coach your team can be much harder otherwise we would have announced Belichick as HC by now.
