From CFN: 2003: Bust: RB Barrington Edwards, LSU (#5) – One of a number of busts in Nick Saban’s class of 2003, Edwards played as a true freshman, but escaped the logjam in the LSU backfield by transferring to North Carolina, where’s he’s been a backup the last two years. Bust: WR Amp Hill, LSU (#10) – At 6-3 and blazing fast, Hill looked as if he’d be the next great receiver at LSU, but a knee injury and a lack of playing time sent him to South Florida, where he caught 19 passes for the Bulls in 2006. Bust: OL Jerry Sevin, LSU (#16) – One of the nation’s highest-rated centers, Sevin wound up being better on paper than on campus, leaving the program just a year after he arrived. I dont even remember this guy. 2002: Bust: OL Garett Wibel, LSU – Wibel has never been able to crack the starting lineup, picking up some mop-up duty in eight games over the past three years Bust: QB Marcus Vick, Virginia Tech – Considering how ridiculously hyped he was coming out of high school and how things turned out, Vick was a colossal bust. He wound up playing just one meaningful year in Blacksburg before getting dismissed from school, and will be remembered more for his off-field transgressions than on-field performance. Boom: WR Derek Hagan, Arizona State – In just four years, Hagan has traveled the equivalent of a galaxy as a wide receiver prospect. A one-star prospect that appeared headed for UNLV, he finished as ASU’s all-time leading receiver and a safe bet to be taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. http://cfn.scout.com/2/614353.html
Amp would not be on the list if he had not injured his knee. He was pushing for a starting position in '03 when his he hurt it.
Some other busts that come to mind... Donnie Bruchaus (sp?), Eric Ellington - Football Tito Horford, Fess Ervin - Basketball
Wasn't it Marcus Randall who set up Amp Hill on a screen pass (or something close to that) when he got hurt.
He hurt his knee before he ever even came to LSU. He redshirted and then spring of the following year he practiced but realized quickly he was not himself and was no where close to the guys in front of him because of the injury. It took him much longer to heal up than he expected and he left the team because he couldn'e get on the field at 80%.
