... some of the goodies and baddies they're saying!!! Merry X-mas, Tigers ... the stretch run is about to begin. Early Doucet Early Doucet is rated the #1 WR in the country. This weekend he took a trip to check out the Miami Hurricanes, and he has come back with a trimmed list of favorites. "It was nice. I had a great time. It's pretty much down to LSU & Miami. They are the leaders.” I asked Early to compare the pros and cons among LSU and Miami. "They are pretty much the same athletically and academically. The only thing is Miami is far away from home. The temptation there is really strong with the big city. That's all on me though. I'm the one who makes the choices, and I'm the one who has to play football and graduate. That's about it." How does he feel about the 2 coaches that are recruiting him for his leaders? "Coach Johnson (Miami) is from New Orleans, so we have that connection even though he coaches some place else. We will always have that bond if was to go to Miami. With Coach Dooley (LSU), he's just a people person. He can talk to anyone no matter their background." Early will make a decision some time after his LSU visit in January Xavier Carter (LSU & FL … watching) According to Xavier Carter's father, he is down to four schools - LSU, Florida, FSU and Miami. Carter, a five-star wide receiver from Melbourne (Fla.) Palm Bay High School, has already visited LSU. He was scheduled to visit South Carolina last weekend but he cancelled the visit. Carter will visit Miami this weekend, FSU (1-9) and Florida (1-16). Carter is currently playing basketball. Last season he averaged 17 points per game playing power forward and was honorable mention all-state. The talented receiver, 6-3 and 195 pounds, said he had a chance to watch the Hurricanes compete in 7 on 7 drills. "They were fun to watch," he said. "I was paying close attention to the receivers because I wanted to see what they had. :dis: They got some good ones but I think I can start over those guys if I went." :dis: Darius Reynaud Everyone is impressed with the skills that Darius Reynaud possesses, including his five favorites who have offered him; LSU, Michigan State, Colorado, Nebraska, and Oregon State. He claims no leader at this time and will visit all of the schools mentioned. All schools involved like him at receiver. On the year he has 27 touchdowns at running back. He has led his team to a 12-0 record and they are now entering the third round of the playoffs against Higgins on Friday. Darius says that his parents would like him to leave the state for school and this is also what he would prefer to do. Reynaud carries a 2.0 core GPA and scored a 24 on his ACT. He would like to major in Engineering. Tony Burks Tony Burks is one of the most impressive looking athletes in the state of Mississippi, and he has the offer list to show for it. He has begun to set up his official visits. "I've set up visits to Southern Miss (1-9), Mississippi State (1-16), Ole Miss (1-23), and LSU (1-30)," said Burks. Ole Miss and Mississippi State came by for an in home visit last week. Ole Miss and LSU are my two leaders right now." RUNNINGBACKS/FBs Jay Lucas I've been going to some LSU games, so I won't need to take an official visit there LSU and Florida State are my two favorite teams, but I am going to take all of my visits." Jacob Hester JH: “Yeah, I like Oklahoma, LSU and Miami and I know that OU is looking for another fullback. I definitely want to look at Oklahoma and I might visit them. I want to talk to Oklahoma and see what they have to say.” David Holbert (Tenn) "I had a great trip," said Holbert. "I had a really good time. Troy Flemming was my host. I talked with coach Fulmer at the end of the visit. We just sat down and talked football. They're recruiting me as a fullback. I'm going to LSU on January 23rd." Holbert is one of the top FB/LB prospects in the South. OFFENSIVE LINE Herman Johnson Oklahoma and Louisiana St will battle it out on the field for the Sugar Bowl, but Nick Saban and Mike Stoops are busy battling it out in the recruiting arena for OT Herman Johnson of Denton, Tx. His top two are Oklahoma and Louisiana St and says they both have a 50/50 chance of landing him. He then travels to Louisiana St (his childhood fave) on 1/16 and said Coach Saban was at his home earlier tonight (12/10). "He said I'm their number one OT. They think I'd be able to help out early, just like at Oklahoma. Coach Stoops and Saban are both business-like and professional. They are awesome. I've visited both campuses and liked them both. They are very similar programs as far as how hard they work and practice. I think it'll just come down to how I feel on my visits." :dis: :dis: :dis: 2.5/800 SAT/Jan retake JH: :dis: :dis: :dis: Is it true you have family that lives in Louisiana? JH: “Yes, I have quite a bit of my family that lives there. My grandparents live there, but they are not putting any pressure on me to go to LSU. They just want me to be happy and they just want me to make a real good decision.” Calvin Darity FSU, TN, LSU CORNERBACKS/SAFETIES Jeffrey Jack (Soft Verbal) About three weeks ago, Houston Madison DB Jeffery Jack pulled the commitment trigger in favor of LSU. And he said when it's all said and done, he'll be a Tiger. However, he still plans on taking official visits to Texas A&M, Arkansas, Grambling and Kansas, in addition to LSU. Tony Bell (LSU 1-30 … If Saban wants him ... he's in the bag) Tony did attend the Iron Bowl last weekend, but not as an official visit. He instead will visit Auburn on 1/16 and pushed his Louisiana St trip back to 1/30. He says he plans to visit Ole Miss in Dec, but hasn't set a specific date yet. He will also visit Georgia on 1/9 and Tennessee on 1/23. “But I really like the atmosphere at Georgia and I think they have the most secure staff out of my top five. They'll be there for a while." The Dawgs have a slight lead over Louisiana St, Auburn, Tennessee and Ole Miss. All his favorites have offered including several others. But even though Georgia is his top choice, Tony says Louisiana St has really impressed him. "I really like Coach Saban and he knows defense well. Also, I think they have the best atmosphere I've been to. It's real big on game day and everyone is into the game." LSU was the best probably. The fans and the atmosphere were really good there. I liked how they would stay behind their team even when things went bad. LSU was cheering and encouraging a guy when he messed up." Might that visit give the Tigers a slight advantage? "I'd say they're the team to beat. I could just see myself playing for Coach Saban. But, that is why I worry a little bit too. I like Coach Richt because he just signed an 8-year extension, and I know he's going to be there a long time. :cuss: :cuss: GA SCUMBAGS :cuss: :cuss: I'm scared Coach Saban may leave. He just has rumors about him leaving a lot. :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: I want to ask him about that on my official visit and see what he says." He said one of the chief factors in his decision will be playing time, and that watching true freshman LaRon Landry start for the Tigers definitely makes them attractive. “It’s good that they’ll play a freshman (at LSU),” Bell said. “That shows me they’ll play who is the best no matter his age, and I feel like I’ll have a fair chance.” Marcus Walker & Tory Degrate "Honestly, the four schools I have been to are all pretty much even and if anybody says they know where I am leaning, then they don't know what they are talking about because I don't," Walker said. "Now I just want to take the visit to LSU and then sit back and think about it. I am in no hurry to make a decision." Walker is a teammate of Waco wideout Torey Degrate (6-0, 175, 4.4). Degrate has been with Walker to Arkansas and Texas A&M and will travel to him with LSU. Simeon Castille Castille added, "I have mentioned that to all the coaches. Coach Saban said I could play any position, but I think I am probably more suited for corner DEFENSIVE LINE Marlon Favorite (grades??) At 6-foot-2 and 305 pounds, Marlon Favorite is among the most heavily recruited defensive linemen in the state of Louisiana. His next visit is Miami on Jan. 9. "That's actually my next visit," he said. "I went to Colorado already. I've just been chilling lately then I got Miami, USC, Tulane, and LSU following each other in January. I'll have a much better idea after my last visit where I wanna go." Darryl Richard Stanford had great relationship until LSU surge wrought damage... in-homes from coaches are attempting repair... signs are that this is turning "I didn't go to UCLA this weekend," said Richard. "I don't know if I am going to reschedule that visit or not. I've already visited Georgia Tech (12-12) and Notre Dame (10-17). I have a visit set up with Stanford (1-9), and I am going to LSU sometime in January." Xavier Mitchell Mitchell says that decision will likely come down to TN, LSU, and Ole Miss. Mitchell says his decision will likely be made after his final visit. “It’ll come down to how comfortable I am around the people and on the campus.” With one of the top defenses in the country, LSU would be an attractive destination for any top defensive player, but Mitchell says he’s considering more than that. :dis:  :dis:  :dis:  :dis:  :dis: “Yeah, they (LSU) have an awesome defense,” he says. “But I want to go somewhere and make the defense great, too. I don’t want just be a part of a great defense. I want to make it great.” :dis:  :dis:  :dis:  :dis:  :dis: LINEBACKER Luke Sanders "I'm going to Texas A&M (1-16), Oklahoma or Arkansas on January 23rd, and LSU (1-30). LSU and Oklahoma are my Top 2 teams right now." Jae Thaxton One of the top linebackers in the south, Thaxton has over 350 tackles in his sophomore and junior seasons. At 6-2 and 220 pounds he is a prototypical middle linebacker, and he will be one of the most heavily recruited players in the south. FSU: "It's near my family down in Bainbridge, GA. It's really more like South Georgia than Florida. I like that." UGA: "That's home itself. They have a good program, and play good football." MIA: "They always have a great team. Every year they're good." LSU: "They have had a good team, and I want to visit and find out more." ND: "Just like LSU, I don't know much but I'm going to visit and find out." Jan 30 visit to LSU
“Yeah, they (LSU) have an awesome defense,” he says. “But I want to go somewhere and make the defense great, too. I don’t want just be a part of a great defense. I want to make it great.”--Xavier Mitchell "Like I said....Leon cain't do everything"--Boxer316 (FSU is) really more like South Georgia than Florida. I like that."--Joe Thaxton Joe, You have no idea....
According to the article (12/26) in USA Today about Nick, "the mother of a prospect in Melbourne , Fla. gave him (Nick) a bunch of Little Debbie cakes." I'd say that bodes pretty well for Xavier Carter. Just my opinion. In the Daily Disappointment here in OKC, it reported that Herman Johnson may now be interested in Okie St. He was up for one of their practices on a visit. Have no idea how serious that is. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
Forget about it ... Herman Johnson will be an LSU Tiger after we whip OK's azz in the Sugar Bowl. It's LSU & Ok for this kid, he has several visits ... most of the good ones do.
Dandy Don is reporting today that Jacob Hester committed to LSU last night. Cites 2 sources from the Shreveport area...he is confirming this report today. Chalk up one for the good guys.
I am trying to confirm it now on a evangel forum, that his mom is a member of. Get it straight from the horses mouth kind of thing.
I think Jacob Hester is officially a Tiger! I have seen him play & he is the real deal! Geaux Tigers!
