Of course we could also add in the fact that if LSU played Troy State and Marshall, two teams LSU would have easily beaten at home, instead of W. Illinois and UL-Monroe, it would replace a 2-14 record with an 11-10 record (W. Illinois record only counted for Div I-A schools they played, which was 1-3). In addition, W. Illinois's Opps Opps record for LSU was 12-48. Egad! Needless to say, LSU will NEVER schedule another Div I-AA team. This would project us to 9th nationally with a 78-61 record.
You forgot one other reason.... The BCS computer said they do not belong in the Sugar Bowl. Good enough for me...great post LSU!
I can't add anything statistically to the above...but I would like to give MY #1 reason that the SoCals need to shut up: This is the system that everybody agreed to play by. Granted, it is a flawed system, but you can't just go changing the rules in the middle of the game because the outcome doesn't suit you (insert your own Al Gore joke here...oops, wrong forum). The BCS says that USC is #3, regardless of what the human pollsters say. That settles it for this year. If, in the future, we can perfect the system to the point that these things no longer happen, then so much the better. But until such a time, these are the rules of the game, and we all must abide by them. And believe it or not, I would still feel this way if LSU had been left out somehow, instead of USC.
Re: Re: Reasons USC should shut up That's not entirely true. Some of the USC boards and media outlets I've read have bashed BOTH teams.
