I said before the season that LSU would need to split the UGA/AU games in order to be in the mix for the SEC Western Division race... In retrospect, we've tripped up against Florida, and now that theory has changed... We actually must beat Auburn this weekend. This game has essentially become a defacto SEC Western Division Championship Game. If Auburn wins, they're 5-0 in the SEC, with games remaining against Ole Miss, Alabama, and Georgia, with the only probable loss being between the hedges in Athens. If LSU wins, then we're 4-1 and they're 4-1, but we hold the head to head edge in straight up competition which will decide who goes to Atlanta to play in the SECCG. We've also got the advantage of knowing that Georgia will most probably tag Auburn with another loss and drop them to 6-2 in conference. LSU's remaining opponents after that will be Alabama, Ole Miss, and Arkansas. LSU could conceivably beat Auburn, and then win only 2 of its last three conference games and still go to Atlanta. In other words, we get some breathing room. Of course, I don't think that we can't win against any of our remaining opponents, including Auburn, but this win is crucial to our future in the SEC West. A loss on Saturday, and we no longer control our own destiny. We would depend on Ole Miss or Alabama, along with Georgia, to have Auburn lose two of its last three conference games... This week is the most important of the season for LSU...bar none...Here's hoping we hold our focus, grit our teeth, and concentrate...because the West is on the line...
I think no matter what, we have to win this game. LSU has been lucky in the past with huge breaks provided by other teams in other games, but this year...we have to win this one for ourselves...There is so little breathing room that we have, have, have to beat Auburn. Before the season, this game was looking to be one of our hardest. Then after 2 games, this game wasn't look to be that bad. Now, it is back to being one of our hardest and most important...It's amazing how much things can change.
I think its funny that CBS is showing the Tenn vs Alabama game sat, a meaningless game..... Alabama sure is on tv alot for the type of season thier having. I'm glad cbs isn't showing our game by the way. Its a night and a MUST WIN of course. "protect the Homeland"
TigerEducated, i believe you are overlooking Ole Miss....yes i said Ole Miss....they are 3-0 in conference and have remaining games with Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, and Mississippi State....yes, we expect Auburn to beat them but that is only one loss for them...if we lose to Ole Miss yet beat Auburn we would need some help from Arkansas, USC, or MooState... now, what that being said, i don't think Ole Miss will only lose 2 despite their impressive performances over bama and florida...still a lot of football to be played and this is all moot point if we lose saturday Geaux Tigers
it is a must win every week, every game, every year . Now it is time to run the tables. I do beleive LSU can win out. The Fla game was the wake up call and just in time. This is still the year for the tiger just look at Sigfreid (sp?)and Roy, that was a tiger who almost ate that guy. It is a sign..........Au is Roy.......We should let Mike loose and let him get his...
LSU has no give me games left. They could all beat us. Hell, LA. Tech could win if we aren't on top of things.
