Defense played great. They were constantly put in bad position by interception, bad punts, and bad offense. Yet, they only yielded two touchdowns before the overtime period. Our defense outplayed Oregon State’s defense and their excellent passing offense to win the game single handely. This was the real story of the game and it was overlooked.

Syrna did not lose the game for them. He connected on his only field goal and it was from forty yards. In contrast, Jackson missed both of his field goals from a similar distance. Both of Syrna's first two PATs hit the upright and the second one would have went in except for Wheat-Brown keeping the ball. The five yard penalty was the difference between hitting the bar and going through. He did just miss the last one but he was on a sloppy field in hostile territory as a freshman in his first game. Syrna scored 3 points out of a possible 6. Jackson scored 2 points out of a possible 8.

Special teams bad for both teams.
Running game poor for both teams.

    Oregon State passing game excellent.
LSU passing game horrible with Randall.
LSU passing game bad with Russell but more due to dropped passes.
