Here's my take: Most Challenging to easiest. 1. Florida 2. Virginia Tech 3. at Alabama 4. South Carolina 5. Arkansas 6. Auburn 7. at Miss St. 8. at Kentucky 9. at Ole Miss 10. Louisiana Tech 11. Tulane 12. Middle Tennessee
1. Virginia Tech -- we have to play one of the top defenses in the country in game two with a new QB, new OC and new offense 2. Florida -- most talent we'll face this year 3. Auburn -- its always a fight in the West and the late game means both teams will be ready 4. Alabama -- our toughest road game 5. South Carolina -- Darth Visor is always dangerous 6. Arkansas -- wants the West again and has the running backs for sure 7. Ole Miss -- almost beat us last year 8. Kentucky -- really, really wants to beat us at home this time 9. State -- Croom beat Bama last year 10. Tulane -- easy win 11. Louisiana Tech -- easy win 12. Middle Tennessee -- easy win
Right now, I'd say: 1. Virgina Tech - first tough game with young, inexperienced offense & new offensive coordinator against what is always a great defense. By far the # 1, IMO. 2. Florida and Auburn are at about the same level. You could pretty much swap either one, but I'll say #2 - Auburn, #3 - Florida. 4. Arkansas - always play us tough, won't be happy about last year's outcome. 5. At Alabama - alot of attention will be on this game, both coaches will really want to win it & its our toughest away game. 6. South Carolina - gotta give the ole' ball coach respect, and his team should be pretty good this year. 7. At Miss St - I think Ole Miss will be a better team, but Miss St is the season opener with a decent defense & our young offense. 8. At Ole Miss - we saw what happened last year when we don't show up focused. This is a rivalry game, never know what will happen. 9. At Kentucky - should be a pretty good team, better than both the Miss teams, but circumstances line up better for us here. 10. La tech, 11. Tulane, 12. Middle Tennessee
1. Virginia Tech- I think if we face them in November or December we win by 10 or more. At this spot on the schedule with the new offensive coaches and one of the worst punt formations in the history of football, I think we're in trouble. Add national spotlight and a nation pulling against us just like they pulled for us vs. Arizona St. and I think we lose this game. You can't tell me there wasn't some karmic stuff going on against the Sun Devils in '05. A blocked kick and punt both for scores????!!!!! Look for the same kind of mojo for the Hokies. 2. Florida- Somehow LSU seems to save all their mistakes for this game. Can't do that even in Death Valley in '07. 3. Auburn-This has been the most important game on LSU's schedule most recently and the games are almost always close. Why would next year change anything? 4. Bama- JPW is a solid QB that may put up points. Bama's front seven however will have to step up to make this a game. Tigers will have to focus on the field and disregard the national attention ths game will bring with the Saban storyline. 5. Arkansas- McFadden still scares me but if LSU is playing with a bid to Atlanta on the line it'll be be bye piggies. 6. USC- Spurrier is starting to get some talent for the cocks, but not enough. 7. Kentucky- This may be last year's version of the Ole Miss game. I think they'll be a definite payback mentaility and the Tigers may fall into a lull this game before talent takes over. 8. Ole Miss- If yaw yaw can get his team to do what they did last year, there may be another close one. 9. State-consistenly loses to us by 20+ every year. 10. La. Tech- over at halftime 11. Tulane- Tigers on turf= speed mismatch overload 12. Mid Tenn St- Yawn.
Agree with that order 100% I have VTech as our toughest game for the exact reasons you stated. If we played them near the end of the season I would downgrade them to #2 and move UF up. Playing a top 10 team with a damn good defense in the second game of the year is going to be the easiest game to lose. That is one game where we CAN'T afford anemic offensive performance a la Auburn 2006 and we CAN'T afford careless turnovers at critical points a la Florida 2006. I just have this feeling the game will be won on one or a few KEY plays and that the turnover battle will tilt the scales.
1A Virginia Tech 1B. Florida 2. at Alabama 3. at UK 4. Arkansas 5. South Carolina 6. Auburn 7. at Miss St. 8. at Ole Miss 9. Louisiana Tech 10. Tulane 11. Middle Tennessee
The Gators will miss Leak more than some of you give him credit for. They will take a few lumps, hopefully we give them one of them. Auburn Va. Tech Alabama Florida ...
dheadtiger is right on. Florida will have a dissappointing team this year. The #2 guy from last year does not have the experience or the ability to hang with us for 4 quarters. He is exceptional on the run but how many times is he gonna run on our d line? Not alot, I expect. I see Flynn coming into his own this year. I'm totally surprised Perrilloux has stayed at it with no playing time. Is he still the "super-recruit"? Yet to be seen. I hope Flynn realizes the opportunity that's gonna be in his hands. With the team he has around him, he doesn't have to put up 40 points a game. He has an extremely great opportunity to win a national championship in his first year as a starter. Can he do it? If the Sugar Bowl game of 2 years ago is any clue, he's the man. I do believe Alabama will give us a game for maybe the first half. Satan, uh Saban, is a great motivator (intimidator, from what I've heard). Auburn is the toughest game. We'll really have to play well. I think alot of people will be surprised to see LSU ranked #1 on alot of experts(sic) preseason poles. Ready for some football? :thumb: :crystal:
