I was having a converstion with a coworker at lunch today and the topic of race and politics came up. It got me thinking about the following phenomenon. Prominant Democrats continuously claim that the President and the Republican party are racist. Hilliary Clinton recently compared working in a Republican controlled congress to working on a "plantation." The head of the NAACP recently claimed that the Republicans wish to fly a swastika along side the American Flag. At the King funeral many prominant Democrats insinuated that Bush was racist right in front of him. Yet 2 people most hated by the Democratic party are Clarence Thomas and Condi Rice, both ironically enough appointed by Republicans. Why is it that Democrats can attack 2 of the most intelligent and accomplished African Americans and nobody thinks twice. Yet, an act of nature displaces thousands of blacks and nobody in the mainstream media calls BS when Democrats claim that the real cause was Republican racism. Seriously, even though they disagree with Rice and Thomas's politics, if Dems were truly not racist, one would think they would at least credit them for their accomlishments. But no. Sometimes I think that all the Democrat race baiting is ony an attempt to mask their own racist views. What do others think?
I won't get into it much because race is very sensitive issue but if I were African-American I'd be pissed at the Democrats. The African-American vote is predominantly for Democrats. IMO, the Democrats seriously take the African-American vote for granted and pretty much only pay lip service to their major issues. Why more African-American leaders don't step up and engage Republicans more is something I don't understand. I know the Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton type people are liberal as they come and this is why they don't engage the Republicans more.
The Dems have historically damaged the black population by fostering a system of reliance upon the government. However, both parties are principally motivated by personal financial gain, be it at the benefit or detriment of blacks, whites, Mexicans, or anyone else. They're kind of color blind in that regard.
