    According to Pat Forde...

"LSU athletic director Skip Bertman will decide soon whether he will expand the candidate pool. Forde also reported that Auburn's Tommy Tuberville, who was rumored to be a candidate, was never under consideration."

This would directly contradict Skip's assertion that he had a "long list" of candidates to work from on the search. Nice to see ESPN confirm to the nation that LSU had zero interest in Coach Dumbo, too.

Does this mean he's not too happy with what he's seen so far? I did see a rumor elsewhere that his meetings with Petrino, while good, did not come close to sealing any deals.

You are acting like Skip just got started a couple days ago. He's most likely been at this for a couple of weeks now.

Heck, with the yearly Saban to NFL stuff, Skip likely is guaging interest year-round.

because he may want to expand his search doesn't contradict anything. It likely means he wants a larger pool to choose from as you stated. Probably catching hell for not interviewing minorities already.

I have been saying that for weeks now to a lot of my friends. Tubby was just a thing brought about by Sexton, IMO to bolster up the money.

Well, if Skip has been at this for a couple of weeks, why in heck is Houston, We Have a Problem, Nutt being interviewed? I don't get it. No way do I want that guy. He's a pretty good coach ... for Arkansas. We can do much better. A little scary. I'm also not thrilled w/ Les Miles, he just sounds like a boring, Curley Hallman type of coach, even his name is boring.

I'll take Petrino over Nutt or Miles in a NY minute; I'd take Rich Rodriguez over either of them in a NY minute. Unless someone like Del Rio, Shanahan, Del Rio, Spurrier, Jimmy Johnson, is seriously interested, I'm rooting for either Petrino or Rodriguez.

All we have learned at this point is that Davis and Tuberville are out of consideration for various reasons. We also know that L'ville fans are very P-O'ed at Petrino for talking to LSU. My feeling is that he'll take the job if offered. :geaux:

petrino and nutt would take the job in a second. if saban suggested nutt then that would explain the token interview. I dont think it carries any weight. No chance of that unless our short list gets caught in a shredder.

Les Miles is a very good coach I do believe but he is umm, kinda whacky. Not sure if you ever saw him on the sidelines....berzerker. He's nothing close to Hallman for whatever that is worth.

I think he is ahead of Rich Rodriguez and Nutt for sure but he's on the lower end of a long list I suppose. I hope at least.

Del Rio or Tedford or bust I say.

Rich Rodriguez and his wife are very happy in WV. It would take more than LSU will offer him to get them to move. He will interview and listen to what we have to say, but don't count on seeing him here.

FWIW, I really like RR. Not as much as Del Rio, but moreso than a lot of other "candidates".

I don't know much about Tedford, other than the obvious things such as the success of Cal this year. My impression is that he's not likely to leave Cal, so I haven't given him much thought. I would rate him up there w/ Petrino or Rodriguez, if in fact he's interested. Les Miles? No way. Houston Nutt? No way.
