I'm sure this has already been discussed, but why did Keiland Williams move from Northside in Lafayette to Hargrave Military Academy. Did he have dicipline problemas at some point? Did his family move? Just curious.
Usually players take the prep school route to get their grades up. Study is mandatory and supervised in a military academy. Sometimes kids who are still growing take that extra year to bulk up and gain strength before starting their college elligibility. It gives them a little edge over the younger competition, they think.
Plus, out of high school, Keiland would not have been a five star player. Hell, three months ago at Hargrave he was a three star player.. It helps a lot of players improve their stock...
Keiland Williams turned 19 before the start of football season 2005 and by LHSAA rules he was too old to play therefore ineligible. So he goes up to Hargrave to play football as a senior. This is a common practice. From what I know, I don't believe grades have been a problem for him.
I seem to remember that he was there for the competitive atmosphere it creates. I don't know how much of a factor his grades played into it because he was a true high school senior and not just using an extra year after HS for academics like non-qualifiers.
he was there because like tsdude said he would have been 19 before the season so he couldn't play. He also said on buddy's show that he needed to get away and grow up. Said when he was looking at it he thought it would help him learn to study, mature, get away from the things a lot of his friends were into back home and help him as a player as the comp. is better at hargrave.
