I know that everyone is giving alot of love to Lavalais and Mauck for the way that they have played this year. We knew what Clayton, Henderson, and Green were capable of. But to me the biggest surprise has been the play of Eric Alexander at LB. He never seems to be caught out of postion and lays the lick when he is the one tackling. Just wanted to read everybody's opinion. I am relatively new to the sport of football compared to some on this board. So let the intelligent input flow.

The biggest surprise of the year to me is.......................

HANDS DOWN LARON LANDRY: He has been unbelievable. For a freshman to walk in and play safety in the SEC is a major accomplishment. I am looking forward to Laron playing another 3 years in Baton Rouge. This kid has been unreal.........

Also, I want to give a shoot out to Jack Hunt for being the most improved player on the team..........

I dont know where to start. You guys have mentioned some good ones. I think I have been most impressed with Jack Hunt. After watching him take Damien James place last year, I never thought he would amount to much. He was always around the play and seemed to wear his heart on his sleeve every time he took the field, but he was small and a little awkward. Now he has gained weight and makes our defense better when he is on the field. He can lay the lumber and is athletic enough to get in the air. Laron Landry is a good one too. Of course, all of our freshmen backs. Also Spears and Hill are finally living up to their hype. I agree about Eric Alexander, too. We had some major question marks at LB coming into the year, but these guys have really stepped up. I guess the whole defense, really. :D

Got to be Jack Hunt. Laron Landry as the Freshman of the year. Eric Alexander has played very well, but has gotten beaten several times in pass coverage.

I would have to agree that Jack Hunt would have to be the biggest surprise on the team. You said it well. This guy is in on every play and gives 100% every down. I'm kind of surprised that more isn't made of him missing the Florida game. I think that it definitely hurt.

Definitely Jack Hunt. This is a guy I thought of as someone who was way too small to be playing college football and rooted for a lot out of pity. But this year he's being talked about at possible All-SEC. Unbelievable turnaround if you ask me.

I'd say Jack Hunt. He has really improved a lot since last year. Eric Alexander has also surprised me. He knocks the snot out of people.
