Clair or anyone else in the know, I-of-the-Tygrr has a question. Since it now appears that Russell will be the man for at least the next year and maybe next two years, is RP prepared to wait his turn possibly for the next two seasons? What is his attitude regarding this situation. Is there any talk of leaving if he has to wait that long, or is he content with learning from the sidelines and waiting for his turn?
Parade All-Americans don't sit on the bench for long before they find greener pastures. If Perrilloux thinks Russell will go pro early, he might take a redshirt this year, back up Russell next year and start as a Sophomore. If he thinks Russell will hang around he will find those greener pastures. Flynn may do it even earlier--after his sophomore year, just like Clausen. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
D.J. Shockley waited for a long time to finally get his chance to start at Georgia. He's probably a better QB than David Greene. If RP is patient, he'll get his time to shine. At media day, he said that he knew his time would come, whether its in the middle of this season or in his junior year. If he goes anywhere, he's gonna have to sit out another year. It would be dumb for him to go somewhere else.
Well, if JR becomes a big stud, I cant imagine he'll stay here 4 years. That being said, RP will just have to wait his turn. A redshirt would be in his best interest.
You never know who will turn into a player, or who won't. The hype is over, JR wants to keep the job, and LSU will recruit players who think they can keep RP on the bench. I bet Cate isn't looking to come to LSU and sit on the bench for 4 years until he gets his turn. It is better having players leave because they can't beat out the starter than rotating starters because no one is good enough to do the job. A year ago Texas Tech signed the national #1 JC QB. This year he started as a WR and caught 9 for 129 yds, and a TD. The QB is a 5th year senior who had a lot of pine time.
