I was just wondering if there was any talk going around suggesting that Texas might be interested in dumping Mack Brown and going after Spurrier. I haven't heard anything, but Brown hasn't really accomplished anything since he has been there, and it seems to me with Spurrier now available, it might be a posssibility.
Hadn't heard anything regarding Spurrier but a Texas fan the other day said Mack Brown has to either get into a BCS game or beat Oklahoma next year to keep his job. If Spurrier sits out a year like they are saying he may do, that could be good timing for him. Has Spurrier ever coached a black QB at Florida or Duke?
I have heard of PLENTY of desire to dump Mack Brown, but nothing of hiring Spurrier. However, knowing the Longhorn fans that I do, they would probably have the attitude that Spurrier (or any top coach for that matter), would come crawling to the Longhorns, because after all, THEY'RE TEXAS. I hate these people.
Could not be more correct from what I hear UT fans say. they are fed up with the level of talent walking through the doors and not producing the "big" wins. Up till this year's OU game they were not believing what opposing fans were telling them about Mack Brown's ineptness. But after that whipping they really turned on him. After last night I can say that Mack's release might even be sooner(no pun intended) than you think. Spurrier is definitely coveted by UT fans.
What's the difference between a coonass and a jackass? I will be the one driving from Freeport to Baton Rouge today with all flags flying, just to remind Tejas who their Daddy is. Just wish I had room for some Saints flags... THE SABINE RIVER.
I was reading a Horns Fan board thread today, and Mack Brown said something along these lines last night after losing: Look at LSU, they were in the loser's locker room last year after the bowl game, and they are playing for the NC this year. I shit you not...go to Horn Fans and see for yourself... http://forums.hornfans.com/php/wwwt...2237988&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=
http://www.firemackbrown.com/ http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~87~1740859,00.html The article was from November, but still pretty good. The dump-Mack movement got even hotter after 29-year-old Texas fan and insurance agent Jed Schmidt was quoted in The New York Times last month complaining about the team's direction and urging Brown to fire his top assistants. To the shock of Longhorn Nation, Brown phoned Schmidt personally before the Oklahoma game to criticize his remarks.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Sooner fans, but it seems to me that Bob Stoops has no fear of UT either in the recruiting wars on on the field of play. In fact, Stoops made a comment yesterday that strongly suggests that he sees LSU, not UT, as his main competition recruiting-wise in the region (mainly Texas). Sorry I don't have the link handy, but it was from one of the many articles dated today that I've read. The gist of the piece was Stoops recognizing LSU's recent success in recruiting and how "the two of us" will continue to recruit very well for the foreseeable future. I don't think he was referring to Mack Brown.
