All these national publications seem to think we have a question at running back. Joseph Addai is as good if not better than what we had before. The depth behind him may be a questionable, but I think Addai is going to have a breakout year. The national media will know who he is by the time this season is over.
Broussard and Edwards are supposed to be impressive too. The lighter everyone takes us the better. How often will Skylar Green get used this year? From the few plays I saw he was FAST!
The only reason the national media is claiming we have "questions" at RB is because they have yet to see Addai that much. I mean, last season, he played 3rd fiddle behind Toefield and Davis. But, like someone else said, let them underestimate our RB's--cause they'll be eating their words by season's end.
Right now Justin Vincent is seeing more playing time in the defensive backfield as a DB so don't be looking for him to get much PT as a running back. Skyler Green plays WR and he should see plenty of time as the 3rd receiver.
We are just fine at RB. Id take our depth in the backfield over anyone in the SEC. Auburn has some great backs, but I would prefer to have 1 Jr., 1 So., and 3 Fr. studs over 3 Jr., and 1 So. I know the freshmen could be busts, but we have 3 superstar freshmen. At least one will be good. Shyrone Carey- 5-6, 185, Jr. Little speedster. He can be slippery, good change of pace back. Hopefully his conditioning is better this year. Joseph Addai- 6-0, 202, So. Work horse. Power, quickness, and durability. His freshman performance impressed me, especially considering his competition. Ally Broussard- 6-0, 225, Fr. This guy is big. He is more the DD/Toe mold than any of the others. We'll see if he lives up to hype. Rivals No. 4 RB in 2002. Rivals No. 38 overall. Justin Vincent- 5-11, 205, Fr. As was said, Parade All-American. Raw talent, highly rated. Rivals No. 3 RB in 2001. Barrington Edwards- 6-0, 205, Fr. Mr. Maryland in 2002. Rivals No. 10 RB in 2002. Rivals No. 41 overall. If NCAA 2004 is any indication, he'll be a badass. I know how expectations go, but at least one of those guys just MUST be good.
All of the new guys are good, but they are green, that's all. People just haven't seen them yet. We will this year. None of them is going to be Toefield on day 1 . . . but maybe later in the year we will see what we've got here. Addai gained over 500 yards last season as the third-string RB. He has already proved himself as a SEC-caliber back, he just needs a year as a starter to become a "name" in this conference.
Ha Ha on NCAA 2004. I just finished him and Vincents Senior Redshirt season in my Dynasty. Both he and Vincent were 99, But all Vincent did was return punts and kickoffs. Not only has Edwards won the Hiesman all 3 years he started, he showed a ton of character by coming back all 3 years with one phone call from the Coach. Also Russell finished 2nd the last two years in voting. Amp Hill also was in the top 5. This my friends is a prognostication of whats to come..
:cuss: Russell left as a sophomore on mine, and Vincent left as a junior, having never played a down! But I still have Edwards, with 90 speed, 90 awareness, 90 agility, and 90 break tackle. He is a beast.
