I'm not a pro baseball fan at all but apparently you've got be an absolute animal to achieve this, has it been completed this year? I heard a few guys had a chance at it, I don't even know if the season is over yet.

Should I finally break down and buy a sportscoat? I've always gone wtih a suit to nice events or button down long-sleeve shirts for more casual. I don't think I'd wear one that often so do they go out of style after a few years?

Main reason for thinking about it now is that I'm going to London in a few weeks for a business trip. There will be a welcome dinner and other meetings that a sportscoat may be the norm.

Off topic but I bought a tux about 10 years ago b/c it was only slightly more than renting. Just realized I haven't worn it again since. Maybe for next year's fantasy football draft.

Of course. You should wear a sportscoat or blazer every time you can. I know it too hot down south, but anyways you should always pop on a tweed coat instead of a light jacket when possible. A gentleman always looks best In a coat or proper odd jacket.

I don't keep up with baseball like I used to but sounds like Cabrera is the obvious choice for MVP. However, I read a really good article in SI about Trout (issue from late Aug) and he was portrayed as the most likeable (and possibly talented) athlete on the face of the earth.

A guy in a sport coat with open collar shirt, don't go mock collarless shirt (those are terrible), don't look to make a statement, go clean sharp and refined.......is a very hot look, 5 O'clock shadow can add a nice rugged look to it but only if you can pull it off, I judge on a case by case basis.

I agree a, properly fitted jacket (every idiot in America wears clothes that are way too big) is a lady slayer. Elegant understatement, organic materials, no visible logos, no shorts or dad jeans, no athletic shoes, magnificent.

I intentionally booked my airfare to leave from Houston on a Tuesday night so I would arrive on Wednesday morning (in London). The welcome dinner is Wed night. Guessing I'll probably shave Tues morning, have some stubble for the welcome dinner and then shave again Thurs morning for the meetings.

Another lady slayer is a good pair of shoes. A nice pair of dress shoes, properly polished and soled will catch a girl's attention every time.
