i do enjoy talking to myself. there are basically zero black people or any sort of people besides icelanders and mostly scandinavian and northern european tourists there. i saw just one sexy african girl (it was weird to hear her speak icelandic and her english was awful) and one chinese lady the whole time i was there. i have no idea how they are in terms of racism or tolerance or whatever. they seem very nice but who knows. scandinavians are weird and icelanders in particular are really weird. they say all icelanders can trace their lineage to the same settlers from norway and northern scottish slave wives they brought. denmark is weird because they welcome diversity then regret it deeply. finland simply doesnt allow immigrants of any kind ever, so everyone is finnish and completely insular. i was at their fake irish bar in reykjavi, the celtic cross, and i asked the bartender where the black people are. he said there really werent any. i am sure you would be an object of great fascination being american and black. one thing i think people forget is that america is maybe the least racist and most tolerant place on earth. the japanese are fucking sick of white people and black people and everyone else. northwestern euroope is plagued with problems with muslims vs whites, and eastern europe is into white nationalism and even neo nazism. they can barely manage a soccer match in europe without fuckers doing a nazi salute when a jewish player kicks the ball. serbians here in new york hate croatians and they are identical as far as i can tell. and the arabs in my neighborhood are fucking crazy with hate for jews, its unbelievable. americans are cool as shit with regard to everyone, as far as i can tell. in america, the kind of things that happen in belfast, with continuing catholic vs protestant violence (even today i mean, not historically) is just unheard of. in africa, there are plenty of countries where one tribe literally enslaves the other as a permanent worker underclass. in india the caste system is huge and everyone cares about it. right n in myanmar muslims and buddhists are burning each other's houses down and fucking each other's daughters. even england is way ore divided by class than we are, with proper accents and posh people being mocked by the working classes and a general feeling of dividedness. i have heed rumors that being black or even just kinda darker skinned like italian tends to get you laid in scandinavia. like tiger woods and hat sexy ass wife of his. also a random note of interest, that icelandic volcano that always ruins flights in europe, eyjafjallajokull, is clearly unpronounceable and icelanders are happy to mock even the most serious journalists attempts at it. anoter random note of interest: in iceland there was much choppin of heads after the protestant reformation, and attempts o convert icelanders from worshiping the norse gds, and thn to christianit, and then o protestantism. to me it seems crazy that the reformation caused any violence at all, who cares really? protestantism is basically the same except for a few minor things.but then i remnd myself tat sunni vs shia muslims kill each other with great enthusiasm and they are basically the same as well. i am in the tiny minority as a person who has some idea of the difference. another point in my facvor when discussing why anyone who is religious at all is a fucking fuckhead for encouraging the idea that faith is at all acceptable. .
Icelanders are very clever. They have no military--the United States defends Iceland. We had air force, navy and marine units stationed there (very discretely) from 1942 to 2006 by which time there were no imminent threats to Iceland with the Cold War over. We have prepositioned equipment and bases in place in case there is a need and we are obligated to defend them. They are clever because they have the finest defenses on the planet available for a phone call and it not only costs them nothing, but we pay them handsomely for the privilege. They know that we can never allow an enemy to occupy Iceland with its strategic position astride the approaches to the North Sea, the Arctic Ocean, and Russian waters. It is entirely likely that we still have covert intelligence operations in Iceland because Russian submarines must pass Iceland to reach the Atlantic and we track the locations of each and every one of those boys.
Don't forget tribal Africa. They are all essentially the same race, but the Hutu's and Tutsi's go after each other with machete wars from time to time. We live in a very Xenophobic world. The Japanese really take the cake. Racially they are Chinese, but they consider the Chinese to be subhuman.
red is correct. iceland is the only nato member with no army. they are freeloading. they get everything free. they done reall pay for energy as they are siitting on a geothermal island that cooks up more steam power than they could ever use, and they dont need a military because of the US and iceland's place as a refueling stop for flying to anywhere. in fact the keflavik airport i just left was built by americans. red is also correct, there is huge anger between japan and chine and even right now, today, the japanese will not acknowledge the atrocities they laid on china during ww2. they had guys that would just go around china improving their skill at head slicing! seriously! they had guys that would try to get the records for most chinaman heads sliced and they deny it now. my chinese friends dont think it is funny at all. america is like a multicultural paradise of acceptance. i am maybe the most racist guy in the whole country and i have never even punched a minority
Correctamundo Red...in fact the Chinese consider ALL others subhuman. Also let's remember the Brits and Irish were enthusiastically killing each other less than 20 years ago. Look at the Sunnis & Shias in Islam...they will stop killing unbelievers to get at each other. All the eurpoeans consider americans mongrels and racially inferior. We have done a pretty good job over here of modifing behavior if not thought.
