It should be painfully obvious that the democrats are trying to keep a black person from being appointed to the senate. Not just in Illinois, but in a couple of other states in play due to Obama's appointments also. My question is, why the hell isn't the media running with this? I thought the democrats were supposed to be the party of the blacks. Blacks do vote 95% democrat after all. Now...black preachers love to talk politics from the pulpit...I wonder how many are talking about this today? As a white guy, even I can't help but raise an eyebrow at the behavior of Reid and his cronies. Oh well...if the black population of this country is fine being tools, then so be it.
The Illinois appointment is in question because blagovich is a sleasebag and nobody should trust his recommendation for a barber, let alone a senator. (seriously, it's like he put the topee on backwards) other than minn. (where they are still counting) i hadn't heard of any congressional seats controversy. examples, please.

I agree Blogo is a douche nugget, but technically he is still the governor of Ill and it is his right to appoint the replacement. It is the fact that the Ill state congress has failed to file the articles of impeachment that has gotten us to this point. That being said, this appoint will always have the appearance of being tainted because of the Blogo scandal. The honorable thing would have been that Blogo refrained from the appointment. But then again, not sure we have any Honorable politicians anymore. Especially ones that are considered career politicians.
the senate said before an appointment was ever made they would reject it no matter who it was if sleezebag made the appt, because of the charges against him. seems to me, that he made the appt to play the race card and create the very divisiveness that has happened. had the senate said they would seat his choice, would people be slamming the dem leadership for reversing their stance because it was seating a black person? seems to me that its a damned if they do, damned if they dont position, and that is exactly what i think cheezyhairsleezeball wanted. edit: let me say i dont know anything about the appointee, and he may be greatly qualified, but i dont think actual qualifications was sleezyhair's reason for making the appt.
oh yeah the guy has painted a lot of people into a very bad corner, no doubt. However, I am not sure if the US Senate can refuse to seat the appt. The Appointee has done nothing illegal in accepting a valid and legal appt by the sitting Gov of a State. The Senate does have the ability to censure and, I assume, to bar a member that has done something illegal while in office but this guy has done nothing. I foresee this going to the US Supreme Court.
This whole racism thing about the seat is isolated towards Harry Reid. This is just smoke and mirrors from Govenor "Phuck you, Pay Me" of Illinois, to draw attention away from the real scandal here. Harry Reid isnt a racist, I dont believe that at all. Gov. "Phuck you, Pay Me", is the real criminal here and has created a diversion for a few days before they oust his azz. Nobody is a tool here and this has nothing to do with black people as a race or collective group. This is isolated to shady politics in Illinois that has gone on for decades. Its up to the people of Illinois to cut the grass so the snakes can show.
Come on SaltyOne. This has nothing to do with race. Because of Blago's attempt to sell Obama's senate seat, any appointment he makes - white or black - will be tainted. From what I have been able to learn of Burris, he is well-respected, which raises the question why he would even consider accepting such a tainted appointment. His decision now throws him under the same cloud Blago is under and some of the taint now rubs off on him. I hope the Demos stick by their guns and refuse to seat him, but I have my doubts.
