I hope I'm not breaking the rules by posting this here instead of in the recruiting forum. If so, I appologize. I'm just trying to start up conversation on something other than the bowl game. I'm curious as to what the opinion is out there on what's more important, a large signing class w/ 3,4, & 5 star athletes (i.e. ND & LSU) or a smaller class, loaded w/ 4 & 5 star athletes like USC. I go back and forth on this, but I tend to lean a bit more to a class like USC's. I know there are "bust" players out there that don't live up to their rankings, but if a 3 star prospect doesn't live up to his potential, then he's still worse than an underachieving 5 start prospect.
Due to the inevitable injury bug biting and the toughness of an SEC schedule, I want as many as I can suit up. And some 5 star cheerleaders, of course. :thumb:
Quality is every team's goal. The minor fluctuations in quantity from year to year don't matter. Every team signs its full 85-scholarship limit.
Ugh, there isn't a choice to be made. You sign as many as you can - sometimes it is a big class & sometimes it is a small one. Either way, you want the best athletes you can get in it.
I've always thought you want a handful of playmakers each year and then solid talent around them. If you look at the successful teams, year in and year out, it reflects that standard.
