I wanted to get a feel for what you guys think, so I'll ask the point-blank question instead of deducing it from other threads... Will any part of you be angry, shocked, or bewildered if Hatch is still starting this Saturday? Gisclair says in his blog that Hatch will likely still be the starter. I can't really see how this could be now that Lee seems to be getting his feet under him, but I guess whatever the coaches decide will be what's best. What do you think?
I'll be shocked if Hatch starts this week only because of his concusion. I do think we are a much more dangerous offense with Lee in the game.
It won't bother me. I'll accept whatever Miles and Crowton decide. The best man (QB) still has a chance to make his case prior to the Florida game.
I wouldn't say that there is a controversy. I think Hatch and Lee both understand that splitting time with the other comes with the job. There's a totally different feel around this team and the 2004 Tigers where Marcus Randall and JaMarcus were directly competing with one another. I think Hatch and Lee "get it". This is more of a cohesive team than in 2004. That being said, I think Hatch needs to continue to start. We've been doing that and it hasn't come back to bite us, yet, so until we have a reason to change it, go right ahead. Lee is still a redshirt freshman, afterall. They'll have plenty of time to develop him.
We're certainly more balanced. With Lee taking the snaps and Scott lined up behind him, the defense has no choice but to stay honest. I still think they play the run more than the pass just because TO DATE, it's more consistent. We all saw what Lee can do when he gets rolling, though...
There is absolutely no reason for Hatch to start. Lee showed why he was an elite 11 QB. He did something as a freshman than no other LSU has been able to do in a long time by winning at Auburn and he did under the most difficult of circumstances. He is the only realistic hope LSU has at making it back to the SEC championship game and he needs the MSU game to gain experience for Florida and the rest of the year. I don't care who technically "starts" for LSU but do expect Lee to get at least 80% of the snaps in the game.
I don't think there needs to be any controversy. It was only one game where Lee played well, and there is no doubt he is finally on his way in terms of development to be the starter. The team still needs Hatch as a stabilizing force until Lee proves that he is ready on a consistent basis. No need to immediately throw him in as a starter. I am glad that at least now we have a more confident Lee, with the receiving corps also having confidence and respect for Lee. Other teams now also have to fear and respect the complete offensive package of the LSU TIGERS!:tigereye:
I have to agree. Just like when Mauck came in and won the game for us and we were a better team from there on out with him at the helm. The only thing that would change my opinion is if Lee comes out and completely loses confidence. That said, I think the coaches will still split some time once Hatch is able. MSU could be a big confidence boost for Lee though.
Start Hatch, dont throw Lee to the wolves just yet, he has to get comfortable, one game doesnt spell that out. But you do play Lee alot at Miss St. get him ready for Florida.
To me, controversy implies that one of the parties, either Lee or Hatch, is unhappy with the situation. I haven't read or heard where that is the case at all. To the contrary it appears that both are happy to see the other play and succeed. However, I understand that "controversy" sells and the media is running with this.
