I feel no matter how I introduce Seimone Augustus it would not do her justice. As part of the Lady Tigers basketball team, she has assisted in making LSU a prominent name.

She has appeared in several magazines including Sports Illustrated and recently was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Year.

As Augustus prepares for the NCAA Tournament with the leadership of coach Pokey Chatman and other Lady Tigers, the junior guard talks about her awards, goals and her teammates.

Tabby Soignier: What was your immediate reaction after hearing that you were named SEC Player of the Year?

Seimone Augustus: I was happy, but it’s not a big deal to me. It’s another award on my shelf, but I know without my teammates and stuff like that none of it would be possible.

TS: With so many accomplishments, is there anything you feel is missing from your list?

SA: A National Championship for one — National Player of the Year.
