I've been looking for someone to say something about the purple jerseys but still haven't seen anything. I'm not one to talk about jersey color but: That was not the usual purple color of our jerseys from season's past. That purple was much lighter and almost blue.......did anyone notice that? If someone has already brought this up just delete the post but our old jerseys matched the dark, dark purple stripe on the helmet. Like this:
What seemed to be missing this year, thankfully, was the ugly white pads showing from underneath the dark jersey, such as in the picture above. I always liked the purple jerseys, but they looked awful with the white worn underneath and the wide mesh.
Same color, different material. The new stretch material they are using this year has more 'sheen' to it and less holes, so it reflects more light. In person, they show up the same color as our helmets, pants.
I wish the yellow/white stripes were taken off.... those two colors next to each other don't work. I do like the same scheme for both home/away jerseys, but I wish LSU would change to what Michigan has....stripes on their white road jersey, but not on their solid home jerseys.
Here is an animation showing three styles of purple. 1)what we wear now 2)same as now, with purple accent 3)solid purple jersey. When I first read about solid purple, I thought it would look good...but doesn't look so good in hindsight. It needs something on the shoulder pads, either the #, the LSU logo, or something.
