Before I ask my question I want to make it clear that I don't feel the jerseys we wear on Saturday will make any difference in the outcome. Ok, while I was at LSU I've seen atleast 3 different uniforms worn by the Tigers . . . purple jerseys, white jerseys, and gold. I like the home whites (and the recent tradiation) as well as the home purple. I even like how LSU will wear the home purple for games when LSU is the home team not playing in Tiger stadium (in fact, it is pretty cool). After I graduated from LSU and moved out here to LA, one of the first questions I was asked (right after, Shaq is from LSU right?) was: LSU is that college team that wears white at home? It has become part of our tradiation, and one that stretches all the way out here to California. I even remember our white uniforms being ranked in the top college unis in the country. So my questions are: Why are we going to wear purple against Georgia? Why go against recent tradiation on national TV? All eyes will be on this game across the college football watching nation. We have developed a tradiation that we should share with the rest of the country. Wearing purple implies this is an extra special game, which it is to us fans, but to the team this game needs to be business as usual (Which I expect Saban will tell the teamall week). Of course other factors might be going into this, Georgia could have refused to wear their home jerseys (like Spurrier liked to do to us when we played Florida on the road) for the game in Tiger stadium this Saturday (which would give us no choice other than to wear Purple). Just curious to know what is going on here. Why are we wearing purple, has there been an explanation? Once again, it doesn't matter what we wear Saturday, just trying to figure out why we are changing tradiation for this one game. Thanks.
WHAT!!! Who says we are wearing purple??? Have they lost their minds??? AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!! Just kidding. But where did you hear this from? I am just getting back from BR and I have not heard this. White would be much better for this big game.
I like the purple jerseys and contrary to most Tiger fans I also like the gold one's. I don't think purple will be worn this week. Saban's policy on purple jerseys is the second home game which is usually a non conference game, all other non conference games at home after that and homecoming which is a non conference game.
I think I saw it in an article I read online from the advocate. I might be wrong, but I thought they said in the article that LSU would be wearing purple. If I got my information wrong, I'm sorry for any uneeded panic and worry.
yeah, usually the practic is to wear whites for the first game and then all conference games. everything else is purple (which is usually 2 games or so...La Tech is the only other game where we'll wear purple this season). no team can force us to wear purple at home. if they dont like us wearing white...they can suck our asses
I hope we wear white for the players sake........Georgia could easily refuse and make us wear the DARK (HOT) purple jerseys. On Saturday afternoon at 2:30, that purple would be horrible for the players!!!
Thanks for clearing that up. Not being in BR anymore it is hard to stay current with team news. I still swear I read it online at the advocate. . . but they could have been saying, it doesn't matter which jerseys we will wear (and I probably translated that to we are wearing purple). I like both jerseys, but I like the white ones the best (looks better in person and on TV). Man, those gold jerseys were hard on the eyes. Do you think we will ever wear those again?
Well, they can't force you to wear purple, but they can keep you from wearing white. It's still up to the visiting team whether or not they'll wear their dark unis so you can wear white.
