Now that I’ve had time to cool down, I like Miles as the new coach more and more.

As someone pointed out, none of the current big-time coaches were “big” before their current jobs. Coaches usually don’t leave big programs for other big programs. Like Saban, the key is to find that quality coach that is stuck in a situation that limits their success. A coach that has done great things in a limited situation. Like Saban at Mich. State, Oklahoma State is stuck in Oklahoma’s shadow. They also have limited natural recruiting. Even so, Miles has still beaten Oklahoma and gotten his share of great athletes. I think Miles will continue Saban’s legacy of keeping Louisiana boys at home and fielding great athletes. He also has great contacts in Texas and Oklahoma. Hopefully he’ll keep some staff that have formed solid relationships with our own Louisiana high schools.

From everything I’ve read from the Okie State fans, they love the guy. They say he is a great X&O’s guy. A great recruiter. Great motivator (something Saban was not). Runs a clean program and is a great family man.

If LSU offers Miles the job I hope he accepts. I am firmly in his corner until he gives me a reason not to be.

I hope he works out for you guys. He is definitely a competitor and a guy that wants to win badly. OSU might have done better this year if they had a decent QB.

At first, I wasn't to thrilled about the hire. The more I think about it, it was probably a really good hire. It's going to be interesting to see who he hires for his assistants.

How loyal is he to his assistants? Will he clean house at LSU just to bring his in, or do you think he'd consider using the LSU OC/DC?
