I would love to see it ... and hope that Jason White gets voted a Heisman ... although he doesn't deserve it. It would serve LSU coaching purposes well ... a motivation to our Defense to kill this lame bastid and win not only the game ... but think about those AP votes just for that alone.

Eric Crouch won the Heisman two years ago and looked like a retard in the title game vs Miami.

Might have a good point here. It could get to his head. Then LSU's defensive players will get to his head, chest, legs, back, and all other body parts on January 4th.

Have the invites to the ceremony gone out yet? I know Jason White, Eli Manning, Larry Fitzgerald, and Chris Perry will all be there. Is that all?

Jason White does not deserve the Heisman. In my mind, the Heisman is half an award for being the best single player/talent in college football and half an MVP/Outstanding Difference Maker award, for a player rising up and carrying his team to new heights.

Honestly, if Jason White had gotten hurt, and the backup QB had to go in midway through the season, would Oklahoma have missed a beat? I don't think so. (Conversely, White did not cost Oklahoma the Big 12 title. That loss was on the whole team)

If I'm a Heisman voter, two players stand out to me; Larry Fitzgerald, WR for Pittsburgh, and Eli Manning, QB of Ole Miss. Both are THE vital components of their team; Pitt and Ole Miss could not move the football an INCH without them. Take away Fitzgerald, Pitt is 5-7. Take away Manning, Ole Miss is 3-9. Their contributions to the team are HUGE and go way beyond raw stats, as impressive as those stats are.

The only knock against either of them is, as great as they are, and as many big games as both won SINGLEHANDEDLY for their teams, they couldn't win every big game because their teams were both so mediocre besides them, especially on defense. Fitzgerald could not save the day for Pitt against West Virginia (because the Panther defense laid down) and Manning had to carry an Ole Miss D that made every opposing QB look like an All-American (except ours for some odd reason). Manning also had his chance to shine against a Top Five D when the Tigers and Rebels played and, while he did okay, he didn't exactly set us on fire either.

But, like I said, the losses both Pitt and Ole Miss endured were not the fault of their big playmakers. I'm torn, but if I'm a Heisman voter, I give the nod to Fitzgerald. He's just more of a gamebreaker and an excitement guy than Manning. He carries his team. What does Pitt do when they need a clutch score late in the 4th? They throw him the ball. What does he do? He catches it. Double team, triple team, toeing the sideline, one handed, hangin' eight feet in the air and about to get laid out, IT DOESN"T MATTER! He catches it! He is the best player in America. GIVE HIM THE HEISMAN!

The Heisman award is supposed to go to the best college football player, period. It, in actuality, is more of a TEAM award that goes to the senior or junior running back, quarterback, or (perhaps) receiver who is deemed the most valuable player on his team that won a great number of games. Look at how many Heisman winners have gone on to have mediocre or no pro careers! If they were the best college player, then I would think that talent and ability would serve them to some extent, at least, in the NFL. Frankly, I don't even care who wins it because it rarely goes to the best player, anyway. The day the award is given to a sophomore offensive lineman on a 3 and 8 team I might start caring or paying attention. Of course, the next time it goes to an LSU player, that, too, would get my attention!

    yeah, the heisman is lame

you cant tell me that the best player (out of 117 teams) always is on a top 10 team.

its a stupid award that does NOT go to the BEST football player in the country...it goes to a good football player on a good team.

I disagree with that. There are many reasons that exceptional athletes have outstanding college careers but dont make it in the NFL. I think the award should go to the best player, but not necessarily the most physically talented. If there is a QB that never makes a mistake, but he doesnt have the best arm or great size, he should be considered even though everyone knows he will never be an NFL QB. Having said that, I think the two guys that most deserve it (Manning and Fitzgerald) are both very physically talented and have futures at the next level, but it doesnt always happen that way.
