First off, I want to preface this by apologizing if some of these points have been covered in other threads. I'm just getting back into town and haven't had the chance to read through them all. Plus this is therapeutic, so please bare with me.

As for the game yesterday, we have NOTHING to be ashamed of. It was a great physical game between 2 top 10 teams and AU just happened to come out on top. I will say that our defense is FOR REAL and arere just as good, if not better than '03 and that's saying alot. I hope we can hold on to Pellini because I have a feeling some teams will be offering him HC job soon. The AU fans I ran into were very gracious and empathetic. Only 1 person out of 80,000+ tried to fight me. :dis:

Now to the officating. By my count, below and the possible game changing calls that went against us:

    1. Hester 'incompletion' on 4th down
    2. 2 late hit out of bounds calls
    3. The interception that was call pass interference (don't interceptions count
    the same as tipped passes?)
    4. LaFell getting mugged in the end zone with the offical staring at the play, but no flag.
    5. The drive killing phantom holding call late in the game when we were driving
(I've watched that play several times on Tivo now and have not been able
to see anything the even slightly resembles a hold)
    6. And of course, the pass interference call that was reversed. There's really
nothing more that can be said here. If the LSU pick earlier was PI then this
should have definately been called. In addition, I have NEVER seen a
penalty that was announced, ball moved forwared, teams ready for play,
then have it taken away. Usually the officials confere after the flag is
thrown, decide what's going on, then make the decision.

I don't want to sound like I'm blaming the officials because it's just whiny, but it just seems like whenver we go to AU that something shady always happens. But when you have 2 teams as evenly matched as this, those calls or non-calls above are just game killers. However, with all that going against us, we still had a chance to win at the end and that's really all you can ask for. I thought Jarmarcus not running out of bounds with 30 second left was just as big, if not bigger than all of the offciating blunders. Imagine if we still have those 15 seconds that ran off the clock with a 1st and goal at 4. It's just tough because this a NC caliber team; especially on defense, and it sucks to have it ripped from you with things that are out of your control. But the good new is, this loss shouldn't drop us out of the top 10. It happened early in the year, so we can still climb the ranks if we run the table and some of these other teams stumble. It won't be easy, especially in Fla, but i'ts do-able. This team still has alot to play for and anything can happen. We've seen it before.

Did I imply that I wasn't? If so, it was unintentional.

I agree, but even after all that we still had a chance to win and didn't.

Amen to everything. It was a great game with two great teams. And it has been marred--everyone is talking about it. That includes a Miami grad I encountered in the supermarket this morning. We were wearing our respective team caps, and we naturally started talking college football.

He said, "I have a buddy who's an Auburn grad, and he said AU won with some very questionable calls." The Miami guy was busy watching his team's debacle while LSU was playing.

I agree...had JaMarcus thrown the ball away with 30 seconds left, we could have spiked the ball and possibly had two times to throw it in the endzone...and completely rip the heart out of the entire crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium. JaMarcus was only trying to make a play...that is what playmakers do...this one just didn't go our way. Geaux Tigers!

I am and will always be a proud Tiger supporter. In my showing around town today with my purple and gold still on, not one AU fan could look me in the eye with any pride, but I could hold my head high. Thank you to all the mighty Tigers for letting me hold me head high. It is hard to beat a really great team, as I think AU is a great team. It is even harder to beat them in their house. But how can you ever prepare for the emeptitude of officials. Don't have the answer for that one. :geauxtige
