personally, I think its a good gesture by LSU to help some of the other in state schools gain some press and some serious $$. I think the problems is because a) LSU is ranked so high, and b) its so late in the season . .

they would say nothing of it if you were ranked lower, or if you played them earlier in the season . .

I admire LSU for doing it personally . .

Chuck...You're like the 2nd Auburn fan today that's stuck his nose in business he knows nothing about...

First and foremost, we're basically funding in-state school's recruiting budgets, so they can bring kids in and not necessarily sway them to sign with them, but to negatively recruit against LSU.

If you think for a SECOND that negative recruiting doesn't happen, you should open your eyes...

Secondly, see, that's the problem...We ARE ranked that high, and we shouldn't have a scheduling philosophy that affects our national rankings adversely.

Oh, and by the way...ULM was the first game of the year, so I don't think we could have played them any earlier, as you "suggest'...

Chuck, I got no problems with you, but did you ever think that perhaps LSU fans may have their own opinions about this stuff, and that being a fan of another University and not being aware of the situation, you might not exactly be informed enough to offer up an opinion?

dude . .ease up a bit . .I'm actually defending your school . .notice I didn't say you SHOULD play them earlier . just that if you did, you wouldnt' get the negative press . . .who am I to say that's wrong . .since we just played ULM . .

I really don't think a school with the quality level of LSU has to worry about losing recruits to La Tech, ULM and ULALA . .

I know negative recruiting happens . .but again . .Troy State can say whatever they want about Auburn, but I doubt we lose recruits to them . .

"Chuck, I got no problems with you, but did you ever think that perhaps LSU fans may have their own opinions about this stuff, and that being a fan of another University and not being aware of the situation, you might not exactly be informed enough to offer up an opinion?"

of course you can have your own opinions . . but as an fan of the SEC, I am also entitled to say when I respect what another school is doing . .

sheesh . .I've never had to argue on this board about complimenting LSU before . ..

you guys are more on edge at 8-1 #4 then you are when you are losing . .

That's why we're #4 and only have one loss, and that's also why you have two assholes now...

I don't think its all Skip's fault since I believe Marshall backed
out on us this year with short notice.

They have to find someone to fill the void.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong!

The Sporting News article is interesting. Does anyone know how to analyze how much damage our nonconference schedule does to our BCS ranking? Does a weak nonconference schedule mean that we have to run the table in the conference in order to have high national ranking?

ULM and La Tech were two of the teams mentioned...I never mentioned Western Illinois, as I have no problem with them...

I have a problem with idiotic scheduling principles that our Athletic Director decided, "...well they worked in college baseball, why can't they work in college football?"

I can hear Homer Simpson right now...'DOOOOOOOOOOH'!!!!

    LOL,

Look at Miami and Fla, Fla state schedules.

I wish we could play one of those teams every year.

Part of our problem is that Arizona was incapable of fielding a competitive team this year. Even a mediocre Wildcat unit would have pulled up our SOS rank and allowed for a UL-M or LaTech on the schedule. Arizona has been a decent Pac-10 program until recently. I'm sure that our AD had this in mind when we agrred to schedule them. There is no way we could have known that would be much worse than god-awful this year.

As for an in-state team on the schedule, I don't mind if it is only one a sesaon. We're gonna play a cupcake anyway, so why shouldn't it be one of them. I'm a little surprised that the State Legislature hasn't demanded this like other state legislatures have. This move probably keeps them from sticking there nose any further in LSU Athletic affairs.
