...................AP..............Coaches.....KM...JS...RB...ST..PW..WC... OU........1540.. .948.....1440... .944....2.....2.....1.....1....1.....1.....990 = .961 Auburn...1530. .942.....1430.... .938....3....3.....3......3....4.....3.....920 = .933 If Auburn falls just short of being 2nd in the BCS, they can single-handedly thank Notre Dame for that. Tennessee's loss to Notre Dame was crucial in preventing Auburn from overtaking OU in at least a couple of the computer polls. Also, Notre Dame loses to Pitt today hurts USC's chance of overtaking OU in the polls in which OU is #1. It's exactly how OU would have wanted it.
Do you have the forumla from last year? I'd like to see how the old computer SOS would have impacted AU's chances - seeing as how OU may play a 5 loss team in their championship.
Auburn is on the same exact path as LSU from last year. All of their SOS is coming very late in the season. But the Tennessee loss to ND is just too much to overcome I am afraid. Had Tennessee not lost, they would have been ranked in the top 4-8 of every computer poll going into the SEC CG. And it would have been more impressive in the human polls as well to be playing a top 5 team in the SEC CG instead of what appears to be a top 13 team at best.
This is the best projections I can see for Auburn in the computer polls: ..............KM. ..JS...RB...ST..PW..WC... OU...........2.....2.....1.....3....1.....1....= .980 Auburn.....3.....3.....2.....1....3.....2.... = .940 This means Auburn has to overtake OU in both human polls by about 35 points.
Is the AP in love with Auburn, if so they can still win a share of the title like USC, but with the media on its hands and knees for USC, I dont think they show any love to AU, and its a travesty that an undefeated SEC teams doesnt get a shot at a NC because the media doesnt want to drop its precious pre season orange bowl teams.
no doubt. Look at this year. I think USC playing Cal and OU playing Auburn in the regular BCS bowl games and then the winners playing a championship game would be so nice. But oh well.
I don't think Auburn catches OU in the computers, the OOC for Auburn is almost exactly like LSU's last year, and this time I think USC and Oklahoma played slightly tougher schedules. The real question is will the humans step up and make a bold statement?
