http://www.geocities.com/rtell/ This is a pretty good site. Shows current BCS and projected (assumes favorite wins). The projected shows LSU 3rd with 6.97 pts and USC 2nd with 6.94. That is incredibly close and I believe shows regardless of how much the media is wanting USC, we are not out of it. I hope Oklahoma wins out because if they get beat in the Big 12 championship game, that may cost us since they may drop to #2 and would allow USC to jump to #1, while we stay @ #3. If Tennessee would get beat that would help out significantly since we wouldn't have to play Georgia again and not jeopardize our QW component. How great is it @ this time of year to still be thinking national champs?
it appears, though, as if that doesn't show LSU with 12 wins. Is that because of the W. illinois thing?
I wish it would be that close, but that page has some issues. If you notice, the page gives LSU 0.4 QW points for beating Georgia. When Georgia loses the SEC Championship, they're probably going to fall out of the top 10 altogether, and give LSU 0 QW points. So, you can add 0.4 to the LSU total. It looks like the key will be getting either ESPN or the AP to move LSU to the 2 spot, giving them an extra 0.5. That would be the difference if the projected computer rankings and SOS are accurate.
No, we are still projected 3rd in both the AP & Coaches. If we move to 2nd in either one, that may be the difference between Sugar and Fiesta.
Folks, Rick Tellshow's site is one of the best out there. Note, however, that this projected BCS final ranking assumes we face Florida in the SEC title game. Also note that he gives FLA at least a 50-50 shot at passing Tenn in next week's BCS ranking; if FLA gets to #9 in the polls---they just jumped to #11 in the ESPN/USA TODAY---Tellshow projects they pass Tennessee. Interesting. Since Fla. St. is one of the teams ranked ahead of them, I say odds are rather decent they get to #9 since either a lackluster Miami win over Pitt (or, obviously, a Miamil loss to Pitt) should allow Fla. to jump them, assuming a win over a top 10 team is more impressive than a Miami win over a lesser-ranked team. In short, cheer for Pitt this weekend (game is AT PITT, by the way, and Florida gets the 'Noles in The Swamp).
I don't think so. It assumes Florida gets beat by Florida St. and we play Georgia in the SEC Champ game. So if Florida upsets Florida St. that would certainly help us a great deal.
That was a mistype: I meant to say it assumes we face Georgia. Anyway, Florida won't get there unless Tenn. is upset by Kentucky since Tenn is 7 in the AP and 8 in the ESPN poll, and Tenn will pass Ohio State next week since they are less than 10 votes behind and the Ken win should do the trick. I think we need to hang our hopes on passing SC in one of the polls (we gained on them again this week in both), which convincing wins over Arkansas and Georgia (in Atlanta), I would think and hope, would do the trick. Moving to #2 in just one poll allows us to gain .5 points on SC, making up and slightly then some for getting zero quality win points after the SEC title game. C'mon Kentucky!! Maybe Lorenzen can eat a Vol or two (literally) and pull the shocker..lol. Seriously, the Cats do seem to put up a fight at least at home, which is where the game is this Sat. *I think*
