Probably the best handled loss by me, ever!

I have NO idea how I just witnessed the worst LSU loss I've ever seen and I really don't feel that badly about it. Maybe it's the new coaching staff. They will need time, obviously. Maybe it's the fact that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita made me grow up quite a bit over the last month or so. Football almost seems trivial now. Maybe it was the atmosphere at the game which, like many, made my eyes swell up with pride for our great state and country. Sure, I pin this loss solely on the shoulders of the coaches. I also pin the wins up there too... so really, it is a moot point. I still have a TON of pride and respect for what these KIDS have done on and off the field. It really put things in perpective when after donning LSU gear the last few days (you damn right I wear my stuff after a loss--even more proudly, and as a TRUE fan) someone came up to me at school and asked, "why in the hell are you wearing an LSU hat and shirt? They look like asolute ****..." I looked at the UNC hat he was wearing and just shook my head and told him that my pride for the school runs A HELLUVA LOT deeper than an OT loss to a top ten team. Remember, we WON A FRICKIN' NT 2 YEARS AGO!!!! How many have one of these :crystal: ? This loss, if anything, made me a stronger Tiger fan. I just felt I had to get that out of my system with all of the negativity floating around. Thanks for reading. :geauxtige LSU! LSU! By the way, my voice is still hoarse, my ears still ringing... how long until we're in TS again!?

The best loss handled by me was the Cap One bowl in Dec.

We played a quality opponent. We competed well. It was an entertaining game, back and forth. JR was inspiring with his play in Q4. Both teams were well coached. The Iowa fans were class.

    Overall, a great sporting event.

I don't feel good about the loss to Tenn. at all. We looked confused, not well coached. We had a 21 pt. lead at halftime and managed to lose the game. The offense was poor the second half, as was the D. Coaching decisions on game management were poor, repeatedly. You had to get a FG at the end of 1st half, and should have tried to get a field goal at the end of regulation. After watching the D against ASU, they did not show improvement and Clausen shredded them. I don't feel good about this at all.

Oh chit, don't get me wrong... I'm completely irate over what we've been putting on the field... but for some odd reason, I just don't seem too down by this loss. National Title hopes are gone but everyone knew that after the way we played against Ass State and the way USC has been playing...

I handled it pretty well myself. Sure, the night of the game, I was pretty pissed, but since I had two days ahead of me full of helping tear rotten, mold-infested drywall out of two of my friend's places down in New Orleans, I kept things in perspective.

The way I look at it, nobody is sicker over that loss than the coaches and players. We fans live vicariously through them, sure, but they're the ones whose lives truly are defined to a large degree right now by their W-L record.

This crazy-ass season was just too much for a new staff and a still-young QB to handle. If we'd have had a few early season patsies on the sched instead of two legit top 10 teams, maybe things woulda worked out differently.

Hey, there's still going 10-1 and sliding into the Sugar Bowl. Playing at TS in a BCS bowl is not a bad way to go, given the circumstances. This team has ass-loads of talent, and should they get past a still-unproven Florida team, running the table is hardly out of the question.

I dont like to lose. My dad was a high school coach and from the time i was little me and my brother have competed at everything. You always give 100% and try to win no matter what you are doing.

I take the Tiger games too serious sometimes and i did this game Monday night. Couldnt sleep and was replaying the game over and over in my mind.

But i love the Tigers win or lose and come next game wil be there hollaring and screaming at the radio or T.V.

I cant wait till i retire. I made my wife a deal. I will stay in California till retirement age if she will agree to retire to the Baton Rouge area.

Still about 15 years away but still something to look forward too.

This is my favorite time of year. Baseball, Football , Hockey and Basketball starts soon.

Get to see my Dallas Cowboys at Raiders Sunday.

One thing about Coaching. I think people would consider Bill Parcells a great Coach and didnt the cowboys blow a big lead at home. Coach Miles will be ok LETS JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE.

Dumbest post I have ever read. I am dumber than I already was for having done so. Go back to your hole, you cowardly little mouse.

JB, that is an excellent post. Very refreshing in this time of negativity. I'm trying very, very hard to overcome my emotional attachment. You are a true fan, my friend!:thumb: :geauxtige

I wouldn't nec. say that. Remember, in 2003 we lost to #19 Florida (if I remember their ranking correctly) later in the season than what we just lost to 9th ranked Tennessee.

We looked like "poopie" during that Florida game (Skyler's punt return was the ONLY points we scored). We had some serious offensive lows in that game too...in fact, more so than this past UT game if you ask me.

If you look at it, this loss to UT doesn't really change a whole lot. We would have still needed help to get to #2. USC, Texas or Va. Tech all would have had to lose a game--even if we had beat the Vols. So it's not like we controlled our destiny in the BCS game. Same as now, we need help from other teams to knock those top 3 teams down.

So, a BCS game is no more out of the question for us as it is for say Virginia Tech, Florida, etc....and CERTAINLY a whole lot better than Michigan and Oklahoma.

Besides, we can STILL win the West. We can STILL play for the SEC championship. and we can STILL make a BCS game (Sugar anyone?). That's what we need to concentrate on. Even at 2-0, we'd still be behind USC, Texas and Virginia Tech in most polls....and you can't control that. We need to focus on what we can control--the SEC race.

Right now, the ONLY programs that can talk about playing in the Rose Bowl are USC and Texas. And until one of those two teams loses a game, then I don't even concern myself with projecting anyone else playing for the National Title.

Virginia Tech. That defense is probably better than ours from '03.
