Yet another sad day for this country. The administration should be ashamed to call themselves Americans. Our founding fathers are turning.

We should endeavor not to blame the front man. The UAW fired Wagoner.

when private business takes that much money from the goverment, are they really private anymore?

Any company that would invest that much would have the same influence and could force out a CEO.

Another person bashing working class folks who happen to belong to a union. :dis:

When the CEO's of companies taking taxpayer dollars take huge bonuses, its good ole capitalism, when middle class working folks represented by unions expect to have their contracts honored, it's greedy, dirty unions who are wrecking companies.

Anyone besides me see the hypocracy?

When the administation forces the union to take more concessions (which the will) will you have a problem with that?

He cant win for losing, he denied bailout funds for the auto companies, but no credit for not throwing money at this.

What is the problem here? If the government is going to take steps to save these companies, then the failed executives, the greedy unions, and the entire corporate structure are going to have to see some changes.

The problem is this govt spending isn't helping and won't help. Spending in a crisis that was started by spending doesn't make sense.

Let's prop up a failing company and see it fail again.

The govt can't even regulate itself so it's going into the private world. Give me a break.

I agree. It's a matter of protecting our investment now.

I also wouldn't characterize the unions as greedy. They are going to get as much as they can and management should be able to hold the line when negotiations reach a point that endangers future growth. That said, the UAW now needs to realize that only major concessions will save their jobs.
