How early should I get to The Chimes if I want to get a table for lunch? 10:30? 11:00? 11:30? Is it even a good place to eat lunch? Last time we just had beer, but I'd like to sit down somewhere and have lunch this time.

Try Sunday brunch. It's the best I've had anywhere.

Yeah, its a great place to eat. Should have no problem getting a table at 11:00 right away.

Once you start moving into the afternoon it will be much harder.

    10:30, I think 11 is pushing it.

If the Chimes is totally packed, Walk-ons, Georges, Ivars, and The Pastime are good LSU bar & grills with excellent food and drinks. Not as close to campus as the Chimes, but maybe right on your way to the stadium. Check Google map for locations.

I agree, I would try to make it well before college football games start at 11.

HEre is their phone number. I would call and find out what time they open on gameday. With an early game you might want to be there when they unlock the doors.

Awesome...thanks for all the help. We only get down there once every five years, so I don't want to screw this up.

Eating at a restaurant just before any LSU home game is very weak, just a bad idea. Way too much tailgatin/cookin goin on for me to even consider such a thing.
