Davonte Lee, the kid from Amite who we've tried at every position except video editor, transferred to LA Tech. You're thinking of Deion Smith, the WR from Mississippi. Think he's still out there, BK should work hard to bring him back.
Of all the players we lost thru the portal and those leaving early for the NFL, the biggest head scratcher for me is Dwight McGlothern leaving to go to Arkansas. He was going to be a starter for us, so it wasn’t for. playing time. Either he really didn’t connect with the new coaches, or he had other issues going on with school or his personsal life where he needed a change of scenery.
Flott is just a dumbass, at least McGotheren could play. Losing Flott is addition by subtraction in my opinion.
I wouldn’t go that far. He was bad his 1st 2 yrs, but had improved greatly by years end this past season. NFL ready? Hell no! That’s why he belonged on the dumbass thread along with the others with inflated opinions of their talent or who got bad advice. Most of the guys we lost via the portal were doing so to get more playing time. Consider LSU’s WR position group which took the biggest hit in the portal because that was where our talent was deepest. Devonta Lee, Trey Palmer, Koy Moore, & Alex Adams were competing with each other for limited spot duty and had almost no realistic hope of breaking thru as a starter. Dion Smith who changed his mind and is staying probably had the higher ceiling compared to the other 4 above WR who entered the portal. Circling back to McGlotheren, he wasn’t leaving for more playing time, so why leave?
Flott looks to me like I guy who can have success in a narrow envelope. Like PJ Williams with the Saints. He's worth his spot so long as you don't play him anywhere but in the nickel. Put him on the island and he's toast.
