I heard on the Eagle that BTR could be accomodating an EXTRA 500,000 people in the very near future. Ok, there aren't even that many people here to begin with. How on earth is this city not headed for mass hysteria? That sort of chaos cannot be contained. I'm about to start panicking.

I was going to wait a year to move, but suddenly feel the overwhelming urge to expedite that action.

Anyone that has been thinking of selling their house to move needs to do so now. There are gonna be a mass flight from New Orleans after this.

I talked to my brother in BR today and he's freaked out about the civil unrest and thinks it could get a lot worse...

...and he's usually a pretty stoic guy....

I told him to pack up his wife & kids and bring 'em on out here :thumb:

I heard on the radio (WJBO) that 40-50 homes were sold in BR the last 2 days to businesses and residents of the affected areas. Many people are looking for apartments in BR as well.

    Our population will definately explode...

i dont think 500,000 more though...

the N.O area only has a million... 50% wont move away for good, and even if they did, 100% of them wouldnt come to BR

The metro area of NoLa is home to approx. 1.5million, according to the figures continually regergitated on newscasts. The insinuation is not that they would move away for good, but as a temporary measure which would leave them somewhat adjacent to 'home.' BTR is the second biggest city in the state (which makes it seem like the most accomodating choice to many), and is only 70 or so miles from hell.

I've heard that Baton Rouge could pass N.O. in population for good after this.

Our best friends here in Denver just sold their house and bought one back in Baton Rouge, all a couple of weeks ago. They are regretting the decision pretty seriously right now; they had a great house in a great neighborhood here. I feel for them.

As far as I am concerned, every last one of them are welcome to stay as long as they need to.

I understand and agree. But what I am concerned about is the fact that this city is, in now way, equipped to accomodate such a number. The situation may just get much worse. We haven't the resources nor the infrastructure. That is a very dangerous situation.
