    MAUCK'S JUST FINE

Matt Mauck was at the hospital late Tuesday. Doctors determined he suffered from food poisoning, said LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette.

Mauck felt better Wednesday and will be at practice today as the Tigers return from their 11-day break for final exams, rest and recovery, Bonnette said.

"He's fine," Bonnette said. "I just talked to him a little while ago. Everything's good."

    BACK TO WORK

The Tigers will practice at 4:30 p.m. today and will work out twice Friday, Bonnette said. The agenda includes daily practices Saturday through Tuesday, then a four-day break for Christmas.

LSU is scheduled to report to New Orleans at noon Dec. 28.

Bonnette said Saban will spend time today with Brent Musburger, Jack Arute and Gary Danielson of ABC Sports, which will televise the Sugar Bowl.

LSU officials said they expect at least 100 members of the news media -- including writers from the Los Angeles Times and USA Today -- at a news conference today to preview the game.

Let the hype begin. You want national publicity for the Tigers? Well, get ready, 'cause here it comes.
