I say they are based on the AP, BCS, and other polls. LSU is 6 in the BCS and Auburn is 18. Alabama is 5. I think Auburn is better than Alabama, but Auburn did lose their first game so I can understand that. I think LSU is better than Auburn, but for a team coming off an undefeated season with only one loss to be so far down below other one loss teams does not make alot of sense. I know GA Tech isn't that great and Auburn lost some great offensive players, but from an unbiased perspective, they don't seem like they should be 12 spots below LSU who also has a loss. I hope the polls and the odds makers are right. We shall see.
I think Auburn will be much tougher than UF. Much more balanced attack, but I believe their O-Line is somewhat depleted right now if I'm not mistaken. Heard something about a 6'2", 275lb center making the start. That dude will hate himself for ever playing football if he gets the nod against our D-Line. But I think we can force Cox into some youthful mistakes, esp. with the 12th man on D.
I think Auburn is underrated. They started off the season shaky and lost to Georgia Tech, not the most respected team. Since then, their offense has been MUCH improved. They haven't played a good team yet besides Tech, so it's tough to say how much better, but definitely better. I'd rate them at about 12th in the nation right now.
AU schedule so far: 09/03 Ga Tech L 23-14 09/10 Miss St W 28-0 09/17 Ball St W 63-3 09/24 W Kentucky W 37-14 10/01 S Carolina W 48-7 10/15 at Arkansas W 34-17 Au hasn't played anyone yet and they lost to an unranked team... Saturday will show where Au should be ranked
Auburn has had issues at center since spring. The rest of the O Line is solid. Your ends will not be as big of a factor against the pass. Your interior rush will determine AU's offensive production. Our game will hinge on our wideouts catching 7-10 yard throws, keeping your LBs off the line. We have enough speed and size at those positions to be effective. Our D is faster than any you have faced. Small LBs and ends mean you will be effective inside. Trying to go wide might happen some, but won't be money for you. If you rush inside, JR will have a shot of being a hero with his arm. You can beat our corners. But you have to take some shots. If Miles pulls in the reins after an error, AU will win this game. If LSU uses their size and speed to soften AU up in the middle, LSU will score on long drives and a couple of quick passes. I am thinking Miles plays not to lose, allowing AU to stay in the game and win at the end.
speaking of your fast dee. remembering game one against the yellow jackets it seems chan gailey found a way to exploit this speed rush of yours by running cutbacks allowing your d line and lb's to over-pursue. I thought this was a very smart tactic since ive never quite noticed a coach using an oppositions speed to his advantage so effectively. i wonder if pelini is as smart as me and picked up on this. i didnt notice other teams attempt is against you since.
auburn is probably better than their ranking, but they should be no higher now than they are. they have played no team of note and have one loss. maybe they should be lower. im all for ranking based on performance and not last year or tradition.
well why should LSU be ranked that high then? Az State isn't ranked, Tenn has two losses, UF now has two losses(i know one is because of you guys). I think yall should be in the top ten, but 6th in the BCS is a little high IMO. I'm not saying that AU should be ranked any higher than we are because we haven't played anyone. LSU has had a tough schedule thus far, but Urban Meyer doesn't really have his boys playing all that great yet and Tenn is not the spectacular team they were spost to be. I do think LSU is the better team, but I don't know if #6 is the right place for you.
