Follow this link for a list of Senators and members of Congress who have pledged to simply read the healthcare bill before signing it. Let’s hold their feet to the fire. Yea or Nay, they should at least read it before signing it. It seems to me that this bill is being crammed down our throats without letting us or the members of congress know what is in it. Do we really want such weighty issues voted on and enacted without everyone in congress doing their due diligence?

So far, Cassidy, Fleming and Scalise are the only Louisiana names on that list. Time for Landrieu, Vitter, Alexander, Boustany, Cao and Melancon to get on board as well.

I plan to read the bill myself objectively.

You'll be no further along because a slew of amendments will be tacked on at the 11th hour.

Part of the pledge is for that purpose. They pledge that it will be posted online, in its entirety, for 72 hours before a vote. That is probably the most objectionable part of the pledge to those trying to ramrod this through. They don't want us to have time to see what's in it before they shove it down our throats.

That's why I asked Brett to change it from Kylek to KyleK a couple of months ago. I had never thought about it until stevescookin told me the same thing after I met him! I'm not creative enough to come up w/ a catchy name, so I keep it simple and just use my first name and last initial.

Cao was quoted earlier today (WRNO) as saying he's in the process of reading the bill. And of course, Landrieu was one of those calling for a delay of the vote late last week. Guess we can give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she's reading.
