Reading that thread about National Championships got me thinking about Play offs. At the end of the year how many teams really deserve a shot at the title at the end of the season? 4, 8, or 16. I think it is between 4 and 8 teams. Four would ideal when you look at the top four teams in thepolls year to year but 8 would probably be fairer. Anything more would be to much for football.

I think a 4-team playoff system would be best. That way, you still get to keep all of the bowl games--still giving players a chance to play in a bowl.

Keep the post-season as is in terms of Bowl rankings/invites and then the 4 winning teams from the BCS bowls go into a National Title Playoff--winner take all.

I am in favor of a playoff but didn't vote because i can't decide between 4 or 8.

I don't understand the reasoning behind the people who are against a playoff. You could still keep the bowls with a playoff.

Take the top 4 or 8 teams and each game is the current top 2 or 4 bowl games. We don't have to get rid of the other bowls. Then in the rounds after the first, it would give more opportunities for other companies to sponsor a game. (hence more money)

    OR

Another way to do it (this would involve at least 8 teams) could be for a company to sponsor a bracket of the playoff (for random example: Chik fil-a could sponsor the south east bracket)

Those are just some thoughts.... What do ya'll think? How would you do it?

    Zero

And scrap the BCS bowl games.

The BCS has really detracted from the appeal of the New Years Day bowl games. Now there's only one important game, when there used to be 4. It used to be very thrilling to watch 4 important games in a row.

The old bowl system was great. We don't need to know who wins one final game. All that does is leave every other team unhappy. And the team that wins the final game might not be the best one, anyway. So much depends on injury at the end of the season.

No playoff. No BCS championship game.

Bring back the magic of college football.

Everybody knows that it would work. A 16 team playoff would be as big as the NFL playoffs and make huge $$$$ in corporate sponsorships. Every division of the NCAA has a 16 team playoff except for Division 1A.
