I am in the process of building a turtle pond in my back yard. I will probably keep 8 aquatic turtles, a box turtle, and a tortoise in the enclosure.

Before I can start catching the turtles I need to find a steady source of natural food items. I need a good spot where I can pass a dip net and catch small crawfish, grass shrimp, minnows, and maybe some snails. I also need some tadpoles as they do a great job of eating mosquito larvae. If there are some water lilies I can grab, all the better. Anyone know of a good dip net spot somewhere in East Baton Rouge Parish?

Seems like I once read that turtles can eat as little as once a month.

Any roadside ditch with water should have some. If you want some water lillies I can get you some but you'll have to come pick 'em up.
