My family gave me a pizza stone that is used on a BBQ pit. I want to make my own dough. I've read a bunch of recipes. Anyone have any pearls of wisdom to share ?

I always buy the Chef Boyardee pizza dough in a box. It comes out really good when I use it on my pizza stone (which goes in the oven.)

    It's easy...

I like to buy the pre-made pizza crusts. Just top 'em and cook 'em.

If I make my own dough, its takes longer and I can drink more wine :thumb:

I love pizza.... what I do is I take flaky grand biscuits.... and flatten them in a brownie pan... and add sauce, cheese, pepperonnis, ham, and what ever else I can find.... it is awesome... deep dish... in fact I am going to make one right now... you can also flatten the biscuits and make calzones...

A lot of times when I'm throwing a party, I make mini "biscuit" pizzas for the kids. They look just like a pizza, my seven-year-old loves to help put the sauce and cheese on them, and kids tend to love them. Tasty.

If you have a bread machine, you can make pizza dough pretty easily. Add the ingredients in the order prescribed, it does all the mixing, and allows the dough to rise. Recipe right in the book that came with the bread machine.

I have experimented with whole wheat flour, buckwheat flour, and white. The best seems to be a blend of whole wheat and white. Whole-wheat flour by itself, doesn't come out very well. There are lots of online recipes for pizza dough.

Pizza stones are awesome. I use my pizza stone for all kinds of things. Biscuits, cinnamon rolls, cookies, meat pies...The trick is to pre-heat the stone while you are preheating the oven. Helps make sure you get a crispy crust. Also, be sure to get a nice pizza cutter. Enjoy!!! That is a great gift.

post how it comes out.... I love it... and like I said you can also make calzones... just in case anyone doesnt know what a calzone is... it is essentially a oversized pizza roll... I flatten out the dough mayb 2 biscuits.... put sauce.. cheese.. pepperonnis and whatever else on half... then fold the other half over... its amazing...
