According to a release for the LSU SID, Pittman has been suspended from the football team.

Here are Les Miles' quotes from the LSU SID release -

"I've met with Chase to discuss the situation and he understands what needs to be done, " Miles said. "We will let this incident run its course through the legal system, however, we expect that there will be a timely resolution to this matter."

"We take a great deal of pride in the conduct that our players exhibit. We expect it to be exemplary. Behavior that reflects poorly on LSU or this program will not be condoned."

I can't say I'm suprised at all by this, and it basically doesn't mean anything because we don't know the terms and conditions of the suspension. It was the only move that could have been made at this time IMO. It settles those that were in an uproar about something having to be done, and now the justice system will do its work.

If he is found guilty, then he'll serve a longer suspension, probably ~ 4 games. And that's assuming it ever goes through the system. If he's found not guilty or they settle, you're probably looking at a one-game suspension and "probation" which means don't make any news until you play a game, and then it better only be game-related, and of course don't do anything negative again.

A suspension at this time doesn't necessarily mean guilt, it just means Miles has to do what Miles has to do.

Not to change the subject, but look at that picture of Derrick Odom. Holy crap! I don't remember any 17 year olds having arms bigger than my head when I was growing up.

I think Miles did a good job by getting on it quickly. We have to wait out the process of the courts, but I think doing this right now is good. He should be facing atleast a one game suspension. Think about it, it'll show that Miles isnt afraid to show some discipiline, and it will be against UNT who LSU could beat with 3rd stringers on the field. Hell, most of the starters will be out by 3rd quarter.

North Texas is better than you think...

But you did convince me that one game is probably about right.

Don't you think talk of a game suspension is a bit premature? If it goes to court and he's found guilty, then by all means a game(s) suspension is in order. If the charges are dropped or it goes to court and he's found not guilty then I doubt Les will suspend him for a game(s).

No, b/c his conduct was detrimental to the team. I mean, if it comes out that he never hit the guy or anything, then that is one thing. But, he hit the guy. Even if it was self defense, he still got in a fight at a bar and got arrested and made news. Therefore atleast one is good. If he's not guilty of anything, then he shouldnt be suspended.

How do you know his conduct was detrimental to the team? In this country you're innocent until proven guilty. If it's during the season and he's in a bar at 2AM a suspension is in order. We all need to chill and let the legal system run its course.
